I'm working on a Flak Cannon in milkshape. When it's finished, it will be my first weapon with Hands, and possibly a weapon in a weapon pack I'll make (pricing, if any, undecided)

It's going to have the most complex animation I've ever done, espesially because of the hands.

Here's the first screen, in colored groups to see the various parts ( hands, trigger handle, and such are not there, remember its WIP)

Ah! My web hosting just went down (as predicted) and with it my avatar! I'll switch it to Image Shack. Hopefully I'll get a new webhost soon.

I've been thinking about how I'll do the animation:

As you can see in the second screenshot, there is a [green] metal peice to the right. There is also one on the left, though it is not visible from the screenshots. Those are what hold the 'flak shell' in place, fling it forward, and place it in the barrel where it ignites and fires off part of its amunition supply. Once that is depleted, the user presses a button on the handle which flings those two metal things away from the shell (outward), and the shell is no longer locked in place. The user can orient the weapon upwards, causing the shell to fall back from it's place into that little 'half-tube'. Eventually it might have a back, but it depends if the player will even see it. The user then removes the shell, places in another, and orents the weapon downward, allowing the shell to fall forward onto the slider and the two metal 'things' to shoot back into position and lock on the shell. I was thinking each shell to (by default) carry 3 shots worth.

the Cannon is coming on really well, one question is Milkshape free? and if so can you model in it?

@Oninmista n00b : milkshape is not free it is $25, and yer u can model with it, but i personally find it hard to use.

(some other people dont)

But milkshape is mainly used for animating.

Milkshape is the only thing I can model in, I started slopping primitives together with the trial, and found it was much easier than other things like 3D Canvas (or at least easier to get used to)

As for using it for animating - I like it, though some people say it's insanity to use it for that purpose

I'd model the hands separately then import them.

Ra, whatever, it's coming along nicely, I'd like to think it was partly inspired by my model. Is it coing to have the rotating cylinders of ammo?

Actually, the model is inspired by UT2004's Flak Cannon, and the cyan cylinder is the shell. When I finish the animation, it will slam the shell forward, then pull it back. Once it is used 3 or 6 times (still deciding) it will 'expire' and must be replaced breifly.

Ya, me too, though mine is a bit diffrent. I decided I won't add hands, it makes it easier to fit in with other FPSC weapons, and I doubt I can put together a model pack. Right now I need to scale it up a few times so it is the right size, the animate it.
