Can anyone tell me why my Matrix does not get Randomized in the following code?

This is my first dive into DBP's 3D command set.

make matrix 1,1000,1000,50,50
set matrix wireframe on 1
randomize matrix 1,600

wait key
delete matrix 1
end

Update Matrix 1

Before the wait key command.
