Just a note, in that first video when you selected all of the rectangular faces on the top of the cylinder and chose "Extrude>Y", you made unnecassary polygons that will get in the way later. Instead, try selecting "Extrude Region".

An example of what I mean;



In the above image, if you were to chose Extrude in step 3, and then tried to move one of the newly extruded faces, you'd get step 4 happening, if you chose extrude region, you'd get the last step.

it was ment to be like that, i first made this model when i was modeling something else and had the idea i could make an easy whatch tower fing easly like that.

@dark donkey - RUCCUS is right. When you extruded the whole ring of faces you should use 'Extrude Region'. Only when the faces aren't right next to each other should you use 'Extrude'.

And even then, you can still use Extrude Region. Its usually safer to just use the region tool unless you know you'll want those added faces inbetween.
