Getting close to the final V104 release version now. Find a new link to RC6 below:

Changes:

* Adjusted FOV of smoke, so it emits from the correction position in the gun
* Adjusted speed and parabola of the shells so they eject and fall more cinematically
* By popular request, if your FPM level contains entities in the selection list that are no longer used, FPSC will remove them
* By popular request, if your FPM level contains segments in the selection list that are no longer used, FPSC will remove them
* Added a new debug string reporter to the SET DIR command (will display any folder name that is invalid during a build process)

Please report any more show stoppers asap I am especially interested if the entity/segment auto-remove messes up your projects so I invite all FPSC users not already doing so to BACKUP YOUR LEVELS now, just to make sure!

Either it's saying that the error is in your "My Games" directory or it's not displaying the full path. If it's the first option, then I'm not sure how helpful that is.

Well, I've just had a quick test and can say that it does indeed remove unused entities when saving, also no problems when testing the game either apart from lighting levels, and music.

The lighting and music I have changed in the build menu > Global Script and used to work, the light levels I set to 15 to darken the game, and used my own music, now, no matter what I change the ambiance level too, the lighting doesn't change, neither does the music, I can't get any music to play.

this is just testing the game and changing the Global Script in the build menu (which used to work) but I haven't tried building an actual game to test, will do that later.

Very cool! This could really save me some hassle if it's up to par.

Still, I'm dreaming of a day when users can control these settings through gunspec...

Why can't the final version include the command "keypressed=" like in Empty's FPSC MOD?

I don't like having to type out "scancodekeypressed=" when I make a script for cheats or keypads.

I know that I could just copy and paste, but fewer characters mean a smaller .fpi file size.

I am waiting to build my compo level until I get the version that works best for me.
I have the design all work out but I want to wait to start building it just in case.
I think this may be the one, so I can hardly wait to get to a b-band connection to d-load it.

Johnny- I just read that about five times, and don't see anything about multiplayer. So what are you complaining about? So far this seems like is going to be a most excellent update.

No problem. Built and played. What I'm saying is that the error seems to be telling you that your problem is in the "My Games" folder and if that's the case, then the message is pretty vague.

Lee,
I found one problem with the blood decal fix you made. now instead of showing the square it shows bulletholes and blood in suoer glow in the dark fasion. is there any way to have them affected by the fog maybe subdued?

Here's a late night Noob question for you:

I've finally hopped on the ban-wagon and installed RC6... until now I've been in love with EMPTY's MOD... I just tested a great game I've been diligently working on for months now and the commands "entitytimerstart", "entitytimergreater=" don't work in the RC6

Is there an alternative? Entity timers are great because they don't mess with the global timer. I haven't seen a list of new commands for the RC6 so if there is one, someone please kindly point me to it.

The blood splatter kind of looks like vomit! Is this supposed to be this way? Or does it resemble guts and blood together. I can't tell.

Is there anyway for bullet holes to appear on the characters you kill? Maybe show different stages of wounds or atleast burnt clothing/damage.

Also, is it possible to have dual weapons with any of the released model packs?

Hi Guys,

In order for Lee to have a Christmas break this year, he is not entertaining feature requests for V104

RC7 solves the glowing blood splat problem, and as a special treat to the FPSC community for putting up with these machine-fire updates, I am pleased to announce DarkLIGHTS integration which replaces the current lightmapper for the next release candidate. I have already integrated it, and is currently under testing. If you have never looked at the DarkLIGHTS product, you will know what you have been missing when you see your level lightmapped with this new technology. Not only is it faster, the shadows and illumination effects are superior. I think you will approve. Of course with any new addition, and the vast field of existing projects on the go, there are bound to be a few niggles. Reports as per usual, greatly welcome.

Also, just to highlight how nice TGC are, DarkLIGHTS was developed over several months, and cost £XX,XXX to develop. It was always our intention to use this technology to bolser the power of FPSC as well as DBPro. Rather than sell this new tech as an upgrade, we have decided to integrate this for free into FPSC, and not charge you a penny. It is often taken for granted when we add new things, largely because we don't make a song and dance about the work that went on behind the scenes, let alone the development cost. Today I felt like dancing We also plan to integrate DarkAI for free too, but I will leave this one until after Christmas!

Do we need to install RC5 before RC6 or can we skip it?
The reason I ask is because I had RC4 installed and then due to the fact that you folks at TGC are apparantly working harder than I am you released RC6 before I installed RC5.
It works fine (except for the bloodsplat thing that was covered in a previous post) except for one thing.
If I test a level it runs the level test and removes any unused segments and/or entities.
However,if I load a level into FPSC and save it without testing it and there are any unused segments/entities in it it will save the level but then FPSC freezes and I have to use the task manager to shut down FPSC and the map level editor and then fire FPSC back up.
I just assumed that I could just skip the RC5 since RC6 contained RC5's fixes as well.

Thanks for incorporating DarkLights and Dark AI into FPSC and giving it to us for free.I know you all lost a few bucks there.
If DarkLights works in FPSC anywhere near as well as what I have seen for DPB it is going to be cool.

Yes! Doesn't DarkLights also do the shadow of objects, much like Full Lightmapping is supposed to do, ALOOOOOTTTTT quicker? Cause for DBP you guys advertise it can be run in real time even, so the speed of it has really caught my eye. Prehaps I'll buy it for DBP...of course if I plan on using the new source code I guess I'll have to

the "inikeypressed" command is a bit faulty.

here's a line I used in a keypad script...


when I test it, the sound repeats while I'm just standing there.

ATTENTION, show stopper:

Take any gun and point upwards...fire. Automatic fire is best so you can turn to see the shells before they disapear.

Notice how they do the odd anti gravity laps around your head? Also the shells are to slow. They need to be ejected a lot faster.

The removal of segments and entities from the workspace seems to be working perfect and kudos on that.

Well i have to say i have been a supporter of FPSC from the EA version.
I have never complained about this product.
And i have no complaints now either. For the price of this product it is the best FPS engine out there.
With the future of this product ever improving i have even higher praise.
Now with darklights plus darkAI for a free add on you cant beat it.
I am 110% happy and i cant wait to see how far this product can and will go in the future.

Thanks TGC for giving us such a great product and continue to upgrade and make this THE only FPS engine worth having.

@NueB - I've never heard of that command...interesting. But chances are, if it is using key's from the setup.ini file, it would need to be something like this:


Where the # is one of the 'key#' entries in the ini file.

Lee, what can I say? This is awesome news looking forward to seeing Dark Lights and later on Dark AI being implemented and that even for free. FPSC is for sure the best choice I've made when it comes to a 3D Game Engine.

I've used others before, but often the way bugs were handles was very dissapointing. Also new features like you're going to implement always have cost $$$. But with FPSC we're seeing the needed upgrades (even though we have to wait at times, but they're here at least) and even some cool improvements along the way, all for free.

Guess all I can say is Thanks!

Got a bug with RC6 that hasn't happened with any other versions. The editor will do everything normal, but when I try to save the editor it gets 'locked' and won't function again until I reinstall FPSC and restart my computer. And I still can't save after that. Sigh.
