If you are using Set Camera To Follow then the object number is the number of the object you want the camera to follow - Eg: your game character object.

Please go over the basics again...

Each object receives a number. In your code, you used the line
LOAD OBJECT "idle.x",1

This 1 is the number of the object you loaded. Other common ways of creating an object would be
make object cube nr, size
make object sphere nr, size
make object cone nr, size
make object box nr, xsize, ysize, zsize
make object cylinder nr, size

and nr is the object number you assign to your created object. But, don't use the same number for 2 different objects, or it will result in an error.

After you get your object's id number, simply plug it into this code where is ask for it, and your set. Cheers.

In your first post you said:

"I need help creating a 3rd person camera on my character."

Your character is an object right? You created it, so only you know what object number you gave it.

Whether you used 'Load Object "filename",ObjNum' or Make Object, you use the same number with Set Camera To Follow.

Didn't you check out the examples I gave you the link to?
