Hey guys, iv seen some of these type of menus up here but none have been very configerable, so heres my shot

Map launcher is a small program that enables you to make semi pro menus and autoruns for your games, apps and media, you can use from 2 to 8 buttons with a selection of layouts to choose from, all media is changable, ie the banner, background and side images, and the background sound, you can use the buttons to open, media files, exe files or webpages.

Download (New Version v1.1)
(links removed due to corrupt archives, im working on this right now)

comments and suggestions are welcome

you can change the background image, everything in the final menu is configerable, in the demo menu i used a grey background so it seems as if there isent one, but there is

Quote: "and drag/drop buttons "

drag n drop, yeah, i considerd that but it would take a while to code the editor, maybe v2 will have drag n drop functions,

not the most informative bug report, but its a start

where is the error, what was you doing when it happend, was there any induction of where the error was in the error message, if i could recreat the error i could fix it, but on testing on my system for 3 hours b4 i made the final build i had no errors at all, pretty hard to bug fix that

only thing that springs to mind is the default root drive is set to drive c (is yours drive c ? if not it will give a error)i already have in mind to change this as well as some other things, but 1st i'll iron out the runtime bugs

Sorry WuTang, there is no way to stop people from using your game files.
If they want to use them they will find a way to get them.

This is great. There are a few niggles for me though:

1/. Perhaps a 'new' button? To start a new project?
2/. The tick boxes under 'Layout' and 'Style' should really be radio buttons. I spent ages wondering why I could click a tick box above an already selected item ok, but couldn't click one underneath (try it, you'll see what I mean).

Overall though, this is definitely something I could use

"New", ok, i take that into account, or a clear fields button

and the checkbox thing.....yeah....that gave me a few probs, the idea is that only 1 can be selected, the checkbox deactivation works when you click 1 above the currently selected box, but in order to select a box below the currently selected box you have to deselect or uncheck the current box, i messed up the loop somewhere

the next version will be slightly more professional looking with a drag-n-drop gui, i am working on making this a full featured cd/dvd autorun menu maker, but it is in the very early stages and yes....it will be free, find attached a screenshot of the button configuration panel,

i am open to requests and/or suggestions

what i have planed:

customizable buttons
image objects with alpha transparency
flash objects with limited fscommands (use your own flash buttons)
customizable text and text paragraph objects
multy page support (up to 10 pages)
and a media player plugin (to show a preview of your game or a infomercial in avi, mpg etc)

i have updated the app to include some of the above mentioned aspects

@Nickydude, i have added a menu that includes a "New" tab, this clears the input fields and i have exchanged the checkboxes to a improvised radio button system, everything now works as intended.

@CLiPs, spalshscreens are something i considered but put on hold as i want to give the user the chioce of image, flash or fullscreen video spalshes and this will take a bit of coding so im saving it for the drag-n-drop version (wich should be ready by the end of march), audio is supported in this version, you can add a background sound set it to loop or play once, i could add some sound control buttons to the end user menu if it is something you would like

@everyone else, thanks for the comments guys, positive feedback on projects like this make them worth working on

I'm confused. I'm not sure I understand this. Does this allow to have more than one Multiplayer level?

lol, no, fpsc only supports 1 level mp maps, this app makes a launcher menu to give your users a chioce of wich map thay want to play, so you can combine all your mp maps in to 1 clean interface, as well as any weblinks to your site etc

Okay alright. Someone told me that they could make something similar to that and have more than one MP map.

well, the whole point of the app is just that, it allows you to have many mp maps and package them all togeather in 1 menu, any map changing would have to be done in fpsc scripting (if thats possable i dont know)

this app dosent do anything that you couldent do with html, flash or any other menu making program, its just a quick easy free way to make a semi pro looking menu

I don't think this belongs in the Models and Media section...perhaps Showcase?

All well, it looks like a very useful application. I'm sure plenty of people will find a use for this...

Wont Open......Strange !!

Has anyone else had this problem,

only thing i could suggest at this stage is that maybe your download got corrupt, try downloading again and see if it will run,

other than that i cant realy see what is wrong as i made no changes to the way the app runs, just the way the buttons react when clicked.

@Davy B, what is it that wont open, the app or the zip archive ?

@Nickydude, ok im checking them out, sometimes the files get corrupt while uploading, rapidshare is notorious for this.

i'll post back when i have it sorted

Might be,Though VB error's can be very hard to find out whats wrong...

It gives like 900 lines in a textbox for only 1 directory that doesnt exist....

AND VB has some other crappy limits,as File Manipulation in VB is also crap.
