It would be really nice if the new DarkMATTER pack could include a series of asm shaders (for water / fire etc.)

Shaders aren't easy to do and it would be nice to be able to make use of this feature without having to learn to write shaders in asm.

PS 1.1 and VS 1.1 versions would be prefered but I wouldn't mind PS 1.4 ones as well for when DBP supports them.

I hear that. I'm new at this and all that shader tech, no matter how much i want it i will probably have to study for years
Sample shaders and tutorials on how to make them would be a welcome addition, i think thats what ur saying

@Raven

Maybe you should apply to contribute to the new DM pack then.

I think that Toady's plugins should be included on the next overhaul of the DBP retail CD, along with Patches and the Editor powertools.

maybe someone should start a website which is basically a big freeware darkmatter so people can post and download all their stuff related mainly to db/dbp. a bit like the 3d cafe website, only more focused on db and games.

They could make a darkmatter where the models of women don't look like men dressed as women.

lol i knew someone would say that dave
oki well i guess i could show one or two basic shaders ... i'll make something simple in a minute just to show how simple it can be.

question is would DBS actually want a small collection of shader for DarkMatter2, and more importantly what would it be worth?
Shader development certainly isn't a quick or easi affair to have enough worth showing - i hope they add the DirectX 9.0 Shader support as part of patch5 ... i'd love to be able to use Cg to produce FX shaders, and 2.0 wouldn't go amiss being able to use
really with the limit on constants you can export, it they're a nice feature but not indepth enough yet.

2.0 and FX support would give the shaders a whole new power for all aspects of development not just graphics
there's a guy from Germany i'm in contact with who's used Vertex Shaders for collision with water to make it actually flow around characters in a demo he's working on ... truely outstanding stuff

The abillity to make shaders or DLLs with DBP would be awesome.
Not to mention a DBO Editor/Converter, that'd be killer.

hey thats an idea
if a Modeling Package was made in DarkBasic Pro, specifically for the DBO format would DBS want that on DarkMatter2?
i mean at the end of the day that would be infinately more helpful than a few models and textures... not to say shouldn't have them, but just saying that i think it would be better to have a few examples like Max/Maya have and then have an actual modeling package.

just an idea though - and i'd love to be able to code Shaders directly into the IDE like i can in C++
