I just bought DBP a few days ago, and while I was (and still am) waiting for it to arive, I decided to go ahead and make a couple of guns for a game.

Everyone seems to be into fps games, and I thought I should give making one a try. These models were made in blender, its the one and only 3d modeler I have used. (unless you count 10 min on milkshape's demo) I have had blender for a few months now, but really only have a few hours total using it.

So they are not at all perfect, a bit blocky, and maybe have a bunch of useless poly's, but hey not bad for a first try.
The next step is uv mapping, animating, ect, im kinda learing as I go.

Here we have the UMP.

And here is a gundam's rifle, I made them from a couple of action figure guns that my little bro had.

Use the image button, itll ask for a link, you paste the link into the field and hit OK and itll provide the proper BBForum code to have an embedded image.

Or just manually type it, the syntax is

He's right, they don't work, how odd, I tried them in my post.

Nice models though

thanks guys, and yeah I tried FOREVER to get the images to show.

btw, the ump right now has 1189 vertices, and 1199 faces, and the other rifle only has 462 vertices, and 479 faces.

Can dbp handle this ok, or should I trim out a few details? Because right now im a tad confused on what is a acceptable amount for a game.

Well, DBP can handle anything technically, it depends on your video card =)

Probobly the reason the image will not show is the folder you made in photobucket has a glitch. I had that problem too so i just put the pictures in a folder i knew would work and then the pictures showed up fine.

When i made some guns for DBP they were around 3k polys and it ran fine(textured and animated), but some people think guns should only be around 700 polys, but IMO i would say they should be fine although the 1199 faces one looks like you could trim it down a bit and it would look close to the same. The other one is good looking for 479 faces.

First try? It looks like you've had some modelling experience before... Id these are your first, you'll be making stunning models by like attempt 3 or 4

but being a grumpy miserable sod -- You could take out a lot of polys on the handgrip, and not take too much detail aay
