I downloaded the new patch which is on the link above. I know it said to make backups of all your files and I did but when I dowloaded it it's just the same but now I can't load or create objects.
EX. Just to test if the whole thing is messed up or just my project I tried to make a new project and do a simple spinning cube code

make object cube 1,100
do
yrotate object 1,object angle y(1)+0.1
loop

and that doesn't even work it doesn't even give me an error it just goes to a black screen for like 2 sec. then pops back up to my editor.

So I was just wondering if I'm doing anything wrong and if not is there a way to get rid of the patch?

or do I just have to reinstall DBPro

sounds like a strange bug... unfortunately the only way to go back right now is with reinstalling DBpro.
i'd suggest contacting Lee about this though

I'm having sorta same problems with DBPro demo..

Dark basic classic works fine, but DBPro asked for 8.1+ DirectX I installed 9.0 did fixed anything, still when you try to rotate any object it spins and moves around??????

I just tried reinstalling it and this time it's semi fixed but it doesn't work on the normal style now I have to set it to Windows exclusive mode 1024x768x16M and nothing else works. This would be fine with me except that I took the exact same code that I had before I downloaded the patch and it runs differently like instead of the camera starting at 0,0,0 it starts at different places every time facing a diff direction.
by the way who's Lee?

DX9.0 is not beta. It is in full release. But, as with many Microsoft programs, I would wait for the patch before going to DX 9. I had a similar problem.

After installing DX 9 SDK, DBPro wouldn't display anything. It would simple crash my machine, and hard...

if u have a mate who has a copy
some other site may archive it like download.com
look back on your magazine cds as they usually bundle it onto these
look back onto your backups namely your archive folder provided u even have a method like this.

So whats the definitive on uninstalling DX9 I heard you cant and it will require a reformat.

You are right. You can't. I've heard of tools floating around on the internet that will remove it but I don't trust them to not be trojans or something. As far as I know, the only way to get rid of it is to restore your system using the system restore utility.

just for information DirectX 9.0a has been released which fixxes some compatibility issues ... however still doesn't fixx the bug with people who installed the beta where the beta versions still reside and cause alot of problems

and nope still no way to uninstall DirectX 9 - and don't expect to see that in a patch either ... as to gain the speed and deptht that Dx9 has its fully intergrated with the OS, it'd be like trying to uninstall Dx8.1 from WindowsXP

oh and you can download 8.1 from the Microsoft Site, you just have to go into the SDK's on msdn and previous versions. Can still download DirectX 7.0 that way too

and Nyph you can't goto a restore point, won't uninstall Dx9 (i've tried several times) the only solution is a full reformat and i mean FULL not just a quick format.
if you're running a windows earlier than WinXP then i'd strongly suggest finding an old CD with DirectX 5 or 6 on it, becuase these didn't care what version of Dx you had on your system they'd just install anyways. then you can just upgrade again to whichever versions you have in backup... Dx 7/8/8.1 detect if the version you have is more recent and refuse to install.

I had the same problem a week or so back when I installed DBPro for the first time, although my system was still running DirectX 8.1. It worked okay until I installed Patch 4, then it wouldn't run any of the demos. Just gave a black screen for a second or so then dropped back to the ide.

I downloaded the most recent certified drivers for my video card (a GeForce 4 MX) and it worked properly. Previously, I think I was running uncertified drivers, which I assume had caused the problem.

You can still download DX 8.0a from Microsoft for Windows 95, 98, ME at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=B5099865-D400-4DD7-A93F-8F21B4BEAB1E.

If you have a lower version of DX8.1 and you still have the DBPro CD then just put that in and you can install DX8.1

dvant the problem you described is exaclty the same as mine my graphics card is "S3 Graphics SuperSavage/IXC 1179" so can you or anyone tell me where I can download the most recent certified drivers for it?

Alright I got it working now I didn't have to dl any of that certified driver stuff because sice I didn't do much on the comp. yesterday I simply did a search of all the files that were put onto my system since yesterday and deleted all of them and then reinstalled DBPro. So it works now thanks!
