It looks a bit heavy on the polies, really you don't need much for a knife. Attached piccy of a real low poly knife, I think it's quite effective though.

When texturing my knife, I actually based the model off a picture I googled, then used that as the texture - but added a little detain for the flat sides, and stretched out the handle. If you use an even number of segments and orientate your handle right, it's quite straightforward to avoid horrible stretching, the curse of learning to UV map!.

In that case you need to post the files so somebody can make it FPSC ready.
To find out how many polygons your model has in Milkshape click on the "tools" tab at the top of the screen and then click on "show model statistics".
