hi all.

just been building my first spaceship and i made a complete idiot's mistake. i've been doing what tutes advise, model only one half then mirror it, and i started w/ the base floorplan and built up. unfortunately though, after finishing, i've just realised that all my base faces face INWARDS because i must've selected them clockwise. I've tried selecting a aface and doing a "reverse vertex order" but of course on edges, it reverses faces that share that vertex adn stuffs up correct panels i want left alone.
so - what can i do? i've tried redrawing faces but it's leaving the face i've already got and making a right mess. is there any way of, say, deleting the underside faces but leaving the vertices? i've tried several things but all the verices just get deleted too

any help/advice would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks.

I don't think you can, so your choices basically, are:

- Start it again

- Set all of the viewports to "smooth shaded", and disable "Draw Backfaces". Equip yourself with that fine old select tool. disable "Ignore backfaces" and "By Vertex". then everywhere you see a hole: select in the middle of where that triangle would be, and hit CTRL SHIFT F (check there are no other faces selected in other viewports!)

- If you've not regrouped the second half of the model, delete it for now... If the base faces are all part of the own group with nothing else in them, you'll have done yourself a huge favour, since you can just unselect everything, go to the groups tab, highlight the relevant group, click select, and again, CTRL SHIFT F

thanks very much for the help Sim

i hadn't kep it as a group (oops, nother hint for newbies there - group as you build!) but w/ judicious selct-hide-select-hide i was able to select 99% of the floorplan and ended up being able to revers it. i lost 2 faces on my wing, but surprisingly enough (for pessimistic me, anyways!!) it let me go right ahead and just create new faces to plug the gap.

thanks again - suffice to say this first foray into ship building has provided a couple of valuable lessons
