Can anyone remember the good old BEEP command from languages like Quick BASIC?

My friend and I thought that this could be an entertaining command to have in a plugin for DBP. We feel someone should make a plugin where some of the oldschool commands are available like the BEEP command and the tuner for the PC speaker.

Yes, we came up with this when i was coding on a 3.11 windows system and doing beeps after every "Print" command to make it seem older an dhaving long sleep commands aswell to make fun of the old 3.11's speed.

Sadly we tried it on DBP to no avail, would love who ever did this

[MOD EDIT]Kids use this forum too. Decided to remove that last sentence.

I'm pretty sure you can do BEEP through an existing dll call, user32 or something like that. I'm sure I saw it once, i'll have to look around.

That's a nostalgic solution.

Back in the early computer days, there were Sinclair, Commodore, Atari computers, Texas Instruments, other brands, and one day the PC emerged.
The beep sound was produced by a square wave oscillator, usually at 500, 1000 and 1500 hertz, which you could modify.
In GW-Basic, Basica or TurboPascal, the solution was:

Print Chr$(7), which made the traditional beep.

Dark Basic did not respond to this in my test, so I generated three samples for you, along with a test program. No need for plugin.

In 20 line challenge, Xeno posted the code needed to activate the PC speaker and make it play different notes. Uses a simple windows dll.

That's a really unhelpful post by the way spooky.

There is no one on that page called Xeno, and nothing there about a PC speaker, that anyone is mentioning. Nor is there a DLL.
