What is the most efficient way to model people? Can I form the basic shape then sub-divide and manually form the person? Or is there another way?

Also if it matters I'm using Blender.

there was a poll over at 3d-palace.com where people were asked to vote on their most used modelling technique, the way you describe was the most popular alot of people use it, i myself like to start with a plain and go from there i suppose that anything is possible its just the way you feel most comfortable.

Max in particular has a few different ways (not going to say how many incase i start an argument) of modelling something the same thing.
