Thanks Rolfy. Could I assist you in making medieval weapons? I'm getting 3DSMax, so I'll help out if you like - just email me (and say it's from rolfy!)

all you did was sobel it. Here is the exact same texture I did in 5 seconds. All you did was click select all, sobel. Oh and gradient map.

As you can see, it is the exact same texture. Not even retextured.

It is probably a good thing that you didn't post the texture file.

Thing is, I did retexture it. It took me an hour jenkins, and I don't even fully know how to use the gimp. Beat that.

I'm not saying it doesn't look bad. It's just, you didn't do anything. It may have taken you an hour to figure THAT BUTTON out. But you didn't do anything. I literally did that in 5 seconds and I don't know anything about GIMP. Airslide tried to help me with making black invisible by going to the ADVANCED button and do some things from there.... and I still can't find the advanced button.

I do have to say, your "retexture" does look a bit smoother. So you may have done a few other things. Probably just the blur tool though.

Remember~ I'm not saying it's bad or anything. Since you are new to GIMP that is definitely explainable. I actually had a post JUST like this. Except it was for a character. And I orange gradient mapped him. He may have looked COMPLETELY different but I didn't do much. I did work on it for an hour or so, but is was just to figure the filters out.

Don't take it the wrong way.

I don't feel like looking for my link, but I'll give you basics. I retextured a character with the sobel and gradient map tool. He turned out SOOOO different. And I thought it looked cool so I posted it. Locrian got on to me about how I didn't do anything it was just a simple filter effect. I got sorta mad but then realized he was right. It was a simple effect.

[EDIT] I decided to look it up anyway. here is the link I spoke of

I understand what you are saying, and it is VERY VERY possible that you did retexture (Which you probably did) But its just surprising how shockingly close the retexture is to a SOBEL.

woah, I can barely see that texture. Could you make the background white. That way it would stand out more.

I can't find a way to do it on the gimp so I've posted a screeny with it. It kinda went true black on some parts...it's gone invisible.

EDIT - File was in bmp format...sorry bout that.

Umm.The white one is just brightend up,and the Gold one is like a "Bronze" filter applied to it...

It are filters you use.not re-texturing.

There's more than just black here!
There's a load of colours in this zip!

-Phlumetoid

EDIT-I don't use filters, if you look in the zip there is a green and purple. Find out how I did that. By the GIMP's powerful tools.
