Well, Ive seen many examples of people using the .x file format for in-game levels and maps.
On the otherhand, 3d world building programmes export to .map and .bsp amongst others.
So my point is, what justifies paying £50 minimum for 3d world studio when I could use the wonderful and easy Gamespace to make a .x object and export it like that? Descriptions, advantages and disadvantages to all possible formats for a level to be used in DBPro are welcome and very much appreciated. I only hope this is the right section of the forum for this question

BSP map making for DBP can be a headache as there is little information and not many people have successfully exported BSPs that work like a charm. Ive managed to get a couple of quake 2 BSPs downloaded from the internet to work years ago so things may have changed. my simple tests would never show up.

When you make a map in an X file format your going to gain all the features that would not normally be available in say a BSP, rigidity vs collision speed is what the pay off is.
BSP maps are pre calculated and rigid but faster for cpu work, x files could be bent and moved but have a little more cpu work to do in collision however check this out.

Thank you for responding, indi. That alone deserves praise because I was convinced this thread had long since died, rotting in the depths of the forum. Do you have any experience with .map since this is the only format that I have not heard anything about in any of the posts that I have made regarding this question? Would you say that 3dworld studio would be a better tool for creating levels over gamespace? Thanks again, I hope I am not asking to much

sorry mate, ive never explored those formats and programs, Ive recently bought into maya so im
heading that way. Check out with google those questions and file formats.

That X file collision system was really fast on my older crappy machine in that link i provided.
It would be a good solution as you could have deformable map elements with an X file but not with BSP.
