Hi Guys,
I have just made a blood decal for butterfingers's Visual damage system. But I can't figure out how to Alpha texture the "Not bloody bits". This has to be done for the decal to appear when the player is hurt. I would be very greatful if someone could Alpha texture the decal for me,and then repost it on this thread. I am using adobe photoshop for the decals.

Thanks

Josh

alpha texture means using a new layer in shades of black and white, that when rendered in game define varying degrees of transparency

Okay here it is, in TGA. It's the best I could do, so you'll have to find a way to convert to DDS.

i can alpha it perfectly if you unseperate the background layer *the black/white* with all the brushes or bloody parts

You'll Know When You See It.

@Bloodeath 6 6 6: It's all one layer. You can't seperate them.Feel free to download the decal and give it a try.
@Phlum- Thanks. Unfortunately ,it hasn't worked.

Let's hope butterfingers can get it to work.

By the way, what has happened to FOTF and Umbra?

cheers' for taking an interest.

Umbra2 is in post production. Waiting on permissions for some soundtrack material. Should be out by mid february. (theres actually gonna be a CD version available to buy with both episodes, soundtracks, some making of vids and a bunch of other goodies)

FOTF is looking shaky to be honest. The plot has been completely re-written, and much of the old level design has been stripped out. It's still running in a totally customised FPSC, but since the update, I've been having a nightmare re-sorting my gunsmoke decals, and getting my bloodsplats right again, to say nothing of the errors that we've been getting and slowdown.

It's very likely that FOTF will have to go down as a "learning experience", something that I cut my teeth on and learned FPSC in. Now that I can encorperate video, and do a bunch of new AI and character functions, FOTF can attain a new level of excellence that the earlier maps just don't have!

@Butter fingers- Im glad to hear that Umbra is still in production. Please DO NOT abandon FOTF,It is one of the greatest games of all time. If you do abandon it,I shall be forced to run over your balls with a steamroller and stuff rotten cheese through your letterbox!!. Also, how is the alpha texture going?

Josh

Thanks Butterfingers. I shall test it out now.

-Josh-

ps: Lyte FX loooks awsome. I do think 10 quid is a bit steep though.

*EDIT* For some reason,it still shows the default FPSC damage HUD. Please help!!

To be honest I'm not going to argue about the price. With 24 decals in the pack, that works out at less than $1 for each decal. When you consider each decal is totally custom, from the decal.dds through to the new marker meshes and icons, there's a lot of work going into each $1.

If this was any other game engine, I could sell for much more. So the price stays!!

[oh yeah, and its well worth buying!]

I don;t think he'd be quite bothered about the second bit... Perhaps the first bit, though haha
Yeah, it would be cool to see FOTF done, but I know how hard it is to crack on when you just cant be bothered

I know,It looks awsome. Also, why isn't the alpha texture working. Do I have to use empty's Mod for the damage system to work?
