Yeah yeah some smart arses are gonna say you should always save stuff regularly - welll duh! That's fcuking obvious! BUT sometimes it may just happen that you ar really engrossed in a particular project and you forget to save it.

Take today for example. Now generally I'll save my work many times a day but it just so happens that today I've been so engrossed in the project that it's slipped my mind to save it. Also happens to be the first time DB Pro has crashed losing all of my day's work.

Sod's law I know but I really don't think I should rely on my failing brain to remember to save my work, when an extremly simple feature in DB Pro could make backups for you. I mean hell I thought applications without auto backup were a thing of the past. I'm very surprised this hasn't been implemented on DBPro. Maybe it is? Am I missing something?

Maybe you should email GuyS who made/updates the DBpro IDE as he would be the fellow who adds the feature.

I agree with both of you, however, posting on the forums raises awareness, perhaps a 'suggestions' section shouldn't go amiss on the forums.

I'll email them anyway in case this isn't read. In a way this was a blessing, the code I'd done was a bit shoddy.

everytime you compile dbp it DOES make a .bak file of the source. scan though you dark basic directories you'll find it.
of course it's probably too late now.

I only thought it backed up when saving files, I might be wrong though.

It takes two keys to test-run a program: Ctrl-S to save it and F5 to run it.

Pressing F5 alone will compile the last-saved program

The above is an out-right lie that I convinced myself of being true in order to make myself save my work... Sort of like method acting but only to myself... Stranger still is that it worked.
