If you need more assistance with alpha channels and huds
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=95449&b=24
theres a tut on how to do alpha channels in photoshop.

He said, "You drink when you're lonely." No I drink when I want!
He said, "You'll never be sober." Sure. Why would I want that?

Yes I saw that one you made Urlforce but I have Gimp so it didn't help me because all you showed was pictures. Thanks anyways.

just do this.
1. add a alpha channel. draw on the black with white the shapes you want for a hud. select all. copy and paste into regular layer and color in and add detail. Save as .tga with alpha channels or .dds with alpha channels.

what i do is combine all the layers except for the background, then marquee select everything with ctrl+click, or shift+click, i cant remember but anyways, you do that, you go over to channels you hit x then d, then you hit add new alpha channel, then hit ctrl+f5, leave it alone to what it is, click ok, then press delete, and there you go.

Heres a pic of the box you should get if you hit shift+f5, make sure its like this, then you'll be set.

PS this was done in ps7

Okay. I get the hud to come up transparent IN GIMP. But in FPSC it isn't transparent. What in God's name?
