We are considering adding a new service to fpsFREE.com, and would like feedback from "those who are currently selling" their own FPSC related games and content.

Would you like to showcase your product in the fpsFREE.com store? The site currently serves more than 500 pages per day to more than 300 unique visitors. You can add your product to our store at no cost and you would continue to sell the product and complete the transactions on your own site as you are currently doing. We would have no part in the sale, but only offer you more exposure and another avenue to promote your product for free.

In other words, your store item (and you display as many different items as you wish) would look just like it would in any shopping cart, however instead of a "Buy Now" button to complete the transaction, the visitor will see a "More Info" button which links to your current shopping cart item or website.

As many of you already know, fpsFREE.com is owned by Xplosys, Corp., a Small Business Services provider with extensive WEB experience. We have been working to make the site more visible and prominent in the FPSC content arena. Concentrating on FPSC alone has allowed us to work our way up the search engine rankings to a prominent position. Search your favorite engine for "FPSC content" and see for yourself.

The site is owned, hosted and maintained by us, and is a pet project which we intend to grow. You can be assured that your products will be presented in a professional manner and the site will be available and maintained 24/7 for as long as you need it. Feel free to search Xplosys, Corp., as well.

It is our goal to build our website traffic and popularity to the point of profit through advertising revenue. What little advertising we currently have (mainly Google Ads) covers a normal sites expenses, and we are curious to see how far we can take it. We believe that by offering you this service, we can help ourselves to reach our own goals. We think it's a win-win situation, but we need your input.

Thanks for your time and attention,

Brian.

I would definitely recommend it. fpsfree.com is a widely known web page. So I think it's a great idea.

It look even better if you sorted this little layout problem in FireFox See attached.

Could you add my guide to your site? Just a straight link to the guide if that's ok?

@Jenkins, rolfy, Silent Thunder, electric chihuahua,

Thanks for the input and confidence.

@Hubdule,

mickm gave me the idea, but that's a great site you have.

@Nickydude,

I, and others here, have looked into that but have not been able to figure out why Firefox does that. I corrected it by adding additional spacing between the Segments and Sky Boxes sections. Now you can see the space in I.E but Firefox looks correct. Better the large space than the overlap I guess.

I also linked your Hints & Tips Guide to the downloads and Links pages, however it also appears to have an issue opening in Firefox. Then again, the error is from Adobe, so it may be that it's not updated to work with Firefox? I.E opens or downloads the file just fine. I have been plugging your guide on the forum, but just forgot to link it on fpsFREE.

Thanks for your input.

@everyone,

I would love more input from those of you who are currently selling content on the web.

Best.

@Prince Of Darkness

Yes, just doing the preliminaries. IRC is good for something after all.

Sounds good! I've been in the game business for 3 years now, and have seen hundreds of game companies worldwide, prosumers, networks, all kinds. I've never heard of a better deal! Great idea!

xplosys, I hope you don't mind but had a look at the web page source and I've sorted (i hope) the overlapping in Firefox for you, without having to have a big gap

Here's the new html page attached, just replace the one you have now. (but make a backup just in case).

I'm not sure what you mean by 'an issue in Firefox' for opening my pdf. I have the pdf extension installed and it works fine for me.

I've sent it twice (received your emails ok) to the same address as the ones you've sent, not receiving any error messages so don't know why you're not receiving mine?

Here's what I sent:

Let's try this time

Subject: Re: fpsFREE.com and Firefox

Sure, I was going to tell you anyway but didn't know if you'd have the foggiest idea of what I was saying, obviously you do. It's to do with your segments table:

<TR>
<TD align=middle width="100%">
<P align=left><IMG height=10
Src="FPS%20FREE%20-%20for%20FREE%20First%20Person%20Shooter%20Content_files/page_arrow.gif"
Width=9 border=0> <B><A
Name=Segments>Segments</A></B></P></TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD align=middle width="100%">

--------THIS LINE I'VE SLIGHTLY CHANGED, I'VE CHANGED THE HEIGHT TO 100% INSTEAD OF 83 PIXELS
<DIV style="WIDTH: 648px; HEIGHT: 100%">

<TABLE cellPadding=2 width=648 border=0>
<TBODY>

I also copied and pasted the small table row with the horizontal divider at the bottom of the segments table so it has the gray line underneath. Hope it helps.

@Nickydude, aka Genius...

I love you, man. You have no idea how many times I've looked over that code and never saw the 83 pixel height. Works like a champ and that was the only thing I had to change.... 83 to 100.

Thanks again.

I do think this is a good idea. We know you and people find your website. If this is done well it will benefit all of us. I'm interested for sure.

We need this, so we content developers, can be focussing on developing even more.

@KeithC and Benjamin A,

It looks like we're going forward with this. Once we have the format and specifics down, we'll post again and contact anyone who is interested.

Thanks for your input.

@Nickydude,

It's probably due to the fact that I have entire IP blocks denied on my mail server in order to curb spam. If I can get the IP of your outbound mail server, I'll allow it. The IP should be included in the error message.

I'm new to FPSC, tomorrow will mark the first full week I've owned it, but I must say, I was very, very happy to have stumbled across this thread and find out about FPSFree. A unified source for new scripts and assets... fantastic! I downloaded a ton of new stuff and can't wait to play with it all. XPlosys, you should definitely submit fpsfree to the TGC Webring, which we're just about ready to launch. And if you wouldn't mind (not that I could see why you would), I'd like to link fpsfree to the MISoft Studios website as well. Very, very cool indeed. And maybe one day after I've learned to script, I'll submit a few dozen of them your way But for now, I'd just like to say job well done.

What might be an idea xplosys is to have a thumbnail linking to a picture for each thing so people can see what they're downloading before downloading it.

@Matt Rock,

Thanks for you kind remarks. The Webring sounds interesting. If you wouldn't mind, and since I see that you are one of the founders, would you please keep me informed of the launch date so that we can join and post the proper return links.

Please feel free to link your site to fpsFREE.com and use our contact form to send us your link so we may also link back to you.

We look forward to your contributions. Best.

@Nickydude,

I agree that would be a wonderful thing, and if I ever loose my daytime job, I'll get right on it. lol Perhaps I will get some help in the future and if I do, that would indeed be on the list of things to do.

Best.

Sure thing, once we get the website officially launched I'll drop you an e-mail and let you know that it's up and running. I'm not sure when it's going live though, you'd have to ask Jess T or Nick or Josh about that. I'm not too informed about the tech stuff . But we'd love to have you join (and that goes for anyone else to, you should all know about the webring!)

I like the screenshot idea, but I wouldn't want to be the poor guy who had to do that. Maybe you could ask your contributors to post a screenie if they have the time, and then you could drop them in over a period of time. Definitely don't do them all yourself though, ack, you'd be there all day lol.

Initially, we will only be displaying your products with a link to your shopping cart. We are also setup for C/C transactions and will be selling our own and others merchandise/software as well, but not immediately. If you have something you would like for us to sell for you, email me with the info and I'll get back to you.

Best.

Maybe you should have a features section for each game. If ALL the games will be made with FPSC, consumers will have a hard time trying to find the perfect game, and almost everything will look exactly the same.

Maybe you should only host buy-worthy and unique content, if it's useless or uses ALL stock content, maybe you should turn it down.

Just saying, might be better for the consumer.

Brian, I'll be on irc tomorrow.. now that things are getting back to normal (lol ill explain it all later).

Another thought that I had was to have a review section of the games... Like IGN does, user reviews (then takes an average).
