I can only assume that this post was done through a translator, otherwise I would not have approved it, but in this case, I will.

Anyway, until someone is prepared to test DarkGDK.NET on Windows Vista, I cannot tell you whether it does or not.

Paul.

Out of curiosity, why would that be Paul?

I mean, the syntax is broken but it's clear what he's asking... and the question is pertinent. So, regardless of it being a bad auto translator or a limited grasp of English I see no reason why the question should not have been approved.

I have vague plans for World Domination

It's by this very reason that I did approve it without hesitation. But, you do get posts where it follows the sort of lines as:

"Teh GDK.NET da l337, gimme c0d3z 4 Vista!!!!!!!!" LOL,

I'm jesting of course, but there's no way on earth that any post even resembling n00bism, would even reach the door.

Paul.

I tried installing DarkGDK.net on my Vist Home premium.

I have Visual Basic 2005 Express installed and working correctly, and .Net is allready installed (but it might be a newer version).

The install stops with this message....

see attached screen capture....

I think I read somewhere that Vista is using .Net 3, and also a special version of DX9 (L or T, or something like that.)

DarkGDK.Net installer is probably gagging on one of those.

scapino, ok, at least I now know that there is an issue with Vista. I suspect that it could be something to do with DX when attempting to install the DGDK.DLL component. At least I'm aware of it now anyway. I don't have Vista at present, so I've not really got any way to fix this problem. May be a while before I get there. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Paul.

Scapino, something to try is downloading this program:

http://www.dependencywalker.com/

Then see if you can find the DGDK.dll and open it inside the Depends.exe program. This should give an Idea if a missing DLL is needed to register the DGDK.dll.

I'll try that Jas....

CR...

DX9 aps should work in Vista, its got Dx9L built in. Of course if the app is hard coded to look for DX9c, then it probably wont.

I know YOU would never do such a thing.....

Anyway, I ran dependencywalker, and here are the dlls that it flagged as..

"Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module."

They are...

IEFRAME.DLL
SHLWAPI.DLL
SHDOCVW.DLL, which depends on IEFrame.dll

Thats all. Only 3, should be easy to fix...

scapino, Ok, that's great stuff I'll see if I can sort this out for the next update. (This will be v1.0.8.0 since the 1.0.7.0 update has already been released)

Hi Paul

Just to point out that you could still reuse the same number because the last version has still not been released yet by TGC

And any information on when then plane to release it (next news letter)

It was my mistake.

I was trying to install by running the DGDKSetup.exe. , which gave me the error.

When I ran dgdk-net(freeware)-1.0.6.0.exe (the one with the DX9 install), it worked fine, and the samples compile and run fine in VisualBasic Express Edition 2005.

Yes, I'm an idiot....

Is the conclusion here is that current version of DarkGDK.net will work without problems on Vista and it will be supported by TheGameCreators?

Thank you.
