You want to release your game to 10 people? But none of them have DirectX 9.0c, download this executable and burn it with your game installer on a CD.

You can download the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft.
Since it's always a good idea to have the latest version anyways why do that? The user can download DirectX themselves.

Just say somewhere in your installation that they must have the December 2006 Edition of DirectX or later and give them the link.

I don't agree ---

I actually needed the info provided by 'That C++ nerd' because I want to send a copy of my new game up to my dear old Mum & Dad.

There is no way that they are going to upgrade directx using dial-up internet (that requires them to first disconnect the telephone and then plug the phone wire into the computer..... somewhere).

Including the directx redistributable on a CD with your game is a great idea because there are a great many people out there who NEVER update their directx (not everyone is into the same stuff we are into).

So if you want to have an old school buddy or your nanna or someone cool and un-nerdy take a look at the game you made up all by yourself, then including a very simple and quick way for them to get a workable version of directx is going to make it more likely that they will actually see it.

Thanks 'That C++ nerd' I will be including the redistributable directx updater on the CD with my game.

Why did you even post this? This post died like 3 months ago.

People need to stop doing this.

Well, Mickm. The information is as valid today as it was 3 whole months ago.

Besides my other hobby is winding up recalcitrants.
