MakeHuman looks to be pretty interesting and even more capable than the FX Realms products. I have the basic version of Creature Creator standalone and all it can do is create the mesh from various parts. MH looks like it has support for posing and assorted props such as hair and clothing. The one down side might be in file exporting. It only exports to Wavefront OBJ.
