Hi, I was wondering whether .X is a scene file or object file. Initially, I thought it is an object file when I was exporting my model using Panda Exporter. When I say object file, meaning that the file only contains vertices and animation info of the model.

Then, when I switch to the Microsoft .X exporter, it seems to export even the lights and camera settings, i.e. it exports the whole scene.

Does that mean I can create the whole level of my game in a .X file, with all the initial camera and light settings, and then when I load it in DBpro, the camera and lights will be position accordingly?

Thanks!

It can be both but if you're going to use .X files for scenes, it will be extremely inefficient for display if your scene has lots of facets. The best way to achieve this is to break the scene down into smaller .X scene files and use a Vising technique to display only the .X scene sections where your camera is located. Or use BSP or FVF for scenes alone. I don't know much about the FVF format though
