Well after a bit of messing around with payments (finger pointing at Paypal) I got my order of the Winter bundle to go through last week. Over the weekend I've been installing and looking through the toolset. Quite a cool bunch of stuff in there!

It's been a long time since I was playing around with DarkBasic. Perhaps around 2000-2002, or there abouts, and it was the classic version when I was using it. Coming back into the community after so long and getting the opportunity to see how far it has all come has been brilliant. So much has changed and improved. FPS Creator Reloaded looks interesting but at the end of the day I'm kind of a control freak. I like to bring everything back into DarkBasic Pro where everything that happens I determine. I know this approach is possible with FPS Creator classic, but is it with Reloaded?

The shader support (in particular) is fantastic. I have a game idea in mind that's a first person RPG (like Legend of Grim Rock) but switches to an isometric, tactical battle mode (like the old SSI games did). I've already begun integrating some of the new tech into a primitive engine and I'm seeing some excellent results. Bravo the game creators!

I think I may jump on the winter package myself... I really wanted Dark Impostors and Enhanced Animations, but the Dark Shader, AI and Physics are attractive enough.

If TGC would let customers put together their own packages and simply offer a discount based on the total purchase (say, 3% cumulative discount for each additional product - e.g., 10 products would be 27% off the total price) they'd probably see a lot more business!!

I agree and I did end up with a second copy of FPS Creator Classic, so I'll have to gift it to someone from christmas. Still, the saving was enormous.

So far I've managed to integrate cloth physics, fresnel water and parallax maps into my brand new engine. It's looking pretty, pretty, pretty good

Oh that looks wicked man! The cloth physics are nice, eh?

Are the walls reflecting the ripples on the water in real time via a shader?

Why, thank you!

Yes the walls are using a shader for the effects. The water, too, is controlled by a shader.

The cloth physics are nice. What I'd like to do is to have the banners on walls move slightly when the player moves past them but I'm not at that point yet. There's still a lot for me to do with this. To get an idea of the progress, take a look at the screenshot attached to this post which shows how far I've got with the level editor. It shows a test level for the switch/door and monster code.

Looks like you're making excellent progress!
I assume you've been at it for about a year now with this?

Is your editor intended for the user to design levels with, or is this just how you're designing levels for your own game, or both?

Thanks again, I've attached another screen shot of my progress so far. I'm on a roll!

I've been at this since the weekend, which was when my bundle arrived. I've had a few days off work so I'm putting the time to good use! I'm really flattered that you thought it was a years work. Everything is from scratch from then. I am an experienced programmer (it's my trade) so that helps.

The editor is at this point something I am using to test the bits of the game engine out as I put them together. For example today I was adding items onto another test level to test them going into an inventory. The basic game idea is that the player is some kind of necromancer who raises his party from the dead as a sort of substitute for character creation and explores a forgotten city seeking revenge.

Nice!

Allow me to suggest one twist, which you may have already considered; What if the player could resurrect anyone, even enemies, for their party? And of course, depending on the player's level, increasingly powerful allies could be resurrected. This may already be in several games, but I only play Skyrim for some weird reason. LoL

Hello everyone! Haven't been here in YEARS! I also bought the Winter Bundle thingummybob, too much of a bargain to pass up lol. I bought FPS Creator years ago when it first came out, got this bundle and noticed that it contains FPS Creator Reloaded Bronze Pledger and FPS Creator Classic. I'm guessing that the Classic one is the one I bought years ago but what's the difference between that and the Reloaded Bronze Pledger one..?

I've also got loads of stuff to play with and don't know where to start lololol

Duncan Edwards is the one person who, even today, I really felt inferior to. I've never known anybody so gifted and strong and powerful with the presence that he had - Sir Bobby Charlton

That sounds like a good idea. My game concept is in flux as the enginer gets built so I may use this... but then again if the concept changes then I might not. Good idea though!

Greetings!

I can not purchase the "TGC Bumper Winter Deal" because the
"FPS Creator Reloaded Bronze Pledger" is currently not available for sale.

I hope someone can fix this. Otherwise:
