If you think you got 'RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!', then you shouldn't waste time and effort reporting it to the public forums where no-one can do anything for you - you should be reporting it to the people who can do something about it

When you order 3DC Pro you get a link to download the standard 3DC, you then enter the serial number and some links appear in the help down load the files from the links, install them and you will have the full pro version.

As for it disappearing from your account, dunno.

That is right, and you should not tell us on the forums about it, report it instead!

Why? You still need to serial number to register the product. In fact you can find this information out on the Amabilis site anyway.

When you purchase the Pro version, you receive the FREE version and a License Code. You must enter this code by going to Help/Enter License Code. After entering the code, exit the program and restart it. Then go to Help/Download 3DC Pro Upgrade. Click on that and down load the upgrade. Close the program again and run the upgrade installer. Now when you start the program you will have the PRO version. To get all the plugins go to the Amabillis website and go to the plugins page to download the installer for the proper version. For the EXTRA plugins go to:
http://www31.brinkster.com/decapod/
and download the proper plugins. If you need more help let me know.

I concur with Spotaru and others. I've used 3DC Pro for 4 or 5 years, and recently upgraded to v7.x. You get the free version downloaded, then add your license key. It should install PRO. If not, in one of the menu items, there is a "install Pro Upgrade" (at least in v6 -- with v7, it seem to do this automatically when I entered my key).

Don't panic! 3DC has been around for awhile. It's a good, stable product. Although I also have more expensive 3D apps as well, I still keep my 3DC up-to-date because it's sometimes easier.

If I had to choose: I'd rather have the ability to create something, than know something.

You need to update the free non-pro version via an internal update function inside 3D Canvas in order to get the pro version? Does this mean that if Amabilis server would be down or if one would lack an internet connection there's no way of reinstalling it would so be needed?

@ Copper Head

1st: If you don't have an internet connection, you certainly won't have 3DC. It's pretty much, only available as a download in the first place.

2nd: When you enter the license code, it unlocks the pro version of the existing installation. Most of the operations will then be available. The download is for all the EXTRA plugins and operations. It can only be downloaded from within 3DC. But you can choose to save it to a file instead of installing it. Then if you ever have a problem with the program, or Amabilis server is down, or you don't have a connection at the moment, etc. You can just uninstall it and reinstall the original 3DC, enter the code, then use the saved upgrade installer to fix everything without having to download it all again.

@ Spotaru

1st: DOH! Ofcourse i know this. I were merely talking about REinstalling would you in the future not have an internet connection or if their servers were down either temporary or by fact that they simply stopped supporting the software. (ie. the company shuts down forinstance).

2nd: Thank you for you help. If it's like you say i feel alot more confident now in buying 3D Canvas Pro. I was almost afraid there for awhile that it was one of them "install-when-you-buy-and-if-your-computer-crashes-you're-fresh-out-of-luck" kind of deals. I don't like those. I like to have the option of installing my tools on a computer that DON'T have an internet connection out of security reasons or know that i can reinstall it even on a bad day when the connection is down. Seems like it's possible then. YAY!

3D Canvas Pro is a cool modelling program if you ask me.

Microsoft Windows = BSOD
Microsoft XBOX 360 = RROD

So is Blender, Wings3D and Anim8tor. Blender being the best.

It's more of how a person uses the tools at hand rather than the program, but it's nice if the program is good too.

I agree, it's all down to personal preference. But, out of all the modellers I have used 3DC Pro is the best low cost modeller I've used. I have tried Wings3D and didn't like it, the same goes for Blender.

Microsoft Windows = BSOD
Microsoft XBOX 360 = RROD
