NO more grinding...a way to level up through other means besides killing NPC's or gathering materials.

Effect the world similar to the original SW Galaxy's.

Actual balanced classes.

Oh, and steam punk style, with the ability to design your own equipment and build vehicles.

A really good story so that it's more than just "grind, grind, kill, talk to an NPC you don't care about, fetch 5 llama skins..." Difficult to pull off, of course, since it'd need to be a persistent world, but it might be possible to make it work somehow.

Very interesting. I suppose a script that used random numbers or somthing could generate an ever-changing story, however that would take some serious time.

What about hunting? Anybody think hunting would make a good party......er.....activity?

A modernday mmorpg. or one set in chernobyl. a fighting system where guns are like damage over time attacks. melee weapons work too, because you HAVE to be a certain range with guns.

How about a prehistoric MMORPG? Groups of players could form tribes and kill animals for food, or do hunting/gathering to keep the tribe alive. Oh... and players would have to figure out how to create technology from what's available. And of course it would have to have stuff like tribal wars (full on PvP to see which tribe survives and which doesn't), permadeath, and a barter system (I don't think cavemen used currency at the time they were around).

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

@Lonnehart, I like that idea. That could allow 100% PvP( no asking for PvP, just do it ), 100% full loot, no auction houses, "skill based system" instead of a "grinding xp/class based/theme park system". I heard the first incarnations of Ultima Online had the best PvP system. It supposely had some kind of flag system where if you go on a killing/greifing spree, you get flagged red(letting people/npc's know that you are a murderer) and loose stats( I never played UO though ).
I would definetly play your game with those basic rules applied!

A Llama LOL!
You have made my day, Bizar Guy.

My idea for an mmo would be to be able to create a sort of rebellion against normal mmo life and fight both sides. I was also thinking about no levelling system to make the MMO more realistic.

If I were you, I'd make a game...

I like mmos to be set in a sandbox style environment and let the players create the game they want to play. (god that sounded like Will Wright lol)
I had an idea about an mmo where players help each other to design and build structures and items and build a unique civilisation from the ground up.
For example say we want to build a smithy to make weapons, there wouldn't simply be a "build smithy" button to click, you'd have to place the walls and the items required (anvil, furnace, storage racks).
I'd love to see what people do with a game like that.
