I have been released my model extruding faces from a simple box.
I used editable poly to avoid triangles in the mesh

The result in the viewports looks perfect but when i try to render or i try to export the mesh looks with a lot of triangles and deformed . I attached the image to this post.

I used 3ds max 2010 64 bits

Why??????

In the long run, I am pretty sure that each square face is actually just two triangles. Even a 6 sided polygon is actually just 4 triangles with the seams hidden. You could probably use smoothing groups to get what you are looking for though.

I prefer modeling with triangles. If planned accordingly, you can get some more defined edges and angles. For example, I was able to use triangles to get certain angles on this ship:

For a more immediate fix, however, in the modifier rollout, choose "Smooth", Check "Autosmooth", and then set the threshold to a suitable number. Maybe around 10,20,or 30.

Hope this helps!

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.
