I want to know if SketchUp Pro 7 can make an animated object in *.3ds format for use in DBPro.

Any help (or tutorials) would be appreciated.

I haven't been using version 7 of Sketchup so far, but as far as I know no version of Sketchup allows animating models. For exporting as .3ds, you need to buy the Pro version, which is... highly expensive. So better forget about that idea.

You can find a DirectX Exporter here.

You can easily then animate it with for example FragMotion or Milkshape. And maybe then convert it from DirectX to .3ds, don't know, never tried that

Thanks for the link and examples of model animation software.

I think those will work for me.

Wouldn't it be better time spent getting into a Free 3D Package like Blender for Content Production?

Would save the hassle of building a content pipeline based on dozens of tools that the 3D Package handles internally.

Just a thought.

You're right. I'm trying out a program called Anim8or. I think it will work for me.

Blender has too steep of a learning curve for me.
