Raaargh...

lol, Okay my first attempt at a competition on TGC. I have been playing about with DBpro for some time now and the competition inspired me to develop something and see it through until the end.

The screenprint doesn't really explain a lot, but I have sorted out a terrain with PhysX collision along with a really simple Vehicle using PhysX vehicle commands.

My next step will be to create a series of machines around the landscape (looks more like a landfill, damn im funny.. lol) Anyhow, the idea is the user controls the vehicle which has a bulldozer type front and pushes things about. The machinery will consist of a hopper which the user can drive into and using physx, release a load of spheres onto the terrain, the user then has to push all the spheres to a new location where using forcefields, will pick up the spheres and place them into a new hopper...

something like that I am just happy I have the first bit over and done with lol

Hi Chewy

Nice idea, and more to this it will be interactive demonstration
Good.

Remember the demo would benefit from an auto-run mode where no interaction is required (the vehicles driving themselves after a while). Also remember to create a switch between CPU and GPU in the demo, plus a scaling factor so those with monster rigs can ramp up the object count

Cheers Freddix

Thanks Lee for the input. I was going to implement the scaling factor and switching between cpu and gpu once the basic machinery idea is implemented and sorted out my media to ensure I fit the size cap.

Will post a new update later tonight

vehicles seems to be some fun, and your idea aswell. Good luck. ^^

Okay, apologies I made a thread and haven't updated it.

I came across some problems with my idea when I wanted to try implement fluids and so on. I found myself focusing too much on interaction than demonstrating the physics scalability.

So I went back to the drawing board and I have started a second idea which is more focused and demonstrates rigid bodies, forcefields and cloth. With a bit of luck, I will have time to enter fingers crossed.

Anyawy, best wishes to everyone tomorrow and I thought I would say I have been inspired by quite a few people's projects and how fantastic some of the demos look and the ideas behind them

Okay, I am really trying to get as much done as I can but I have hit a brick wall..

I have some objects falling from a height, They are suppose to be pretty heavy but I can't seem to get them to fall faster with gravity pulling them down?

Anyone know what commands I should be looking at to get the objects to fall faster?

normal mass starts at 10,000, hope that helps.

once they collide with the terrain they speed up a but, but when freefalling, just no improvement lol hmmm

Anyway, here are two screenshots so far:

now on to making foliage and some other things

EDIT: fixed the problem, increased the gravity lol

Didn't get a chance to sort out the rest of the cloth or put in forcefields I was wanting to grrr lol

Quite glad with what I have done though I have attached a copy of my demo.

I have a half decent computer and running on low using cpu really drags down the fps lmao

I get the same frame rate in all 3 scales. Doesn't matter if its on low or high, I always get roughly 18 fps on my machine. Also this is in software mode. Hope that helps.

Good luck
