They're busy making great new stuff. Customers get lots of attention between projects, that's just how it works.

Their products aren't perfect, but they're definitely capable, and there is excellent 3rd party support. Nothing is in such a state that it can't be used.

Come see the WIP!

- Great and New stuff, Yes. However i dont like the concept of having to buy a new graphics card simply to be rid of some bugs

Quote: "Their products aren't perfect, but they're definitely capable"
- I cant dissagree - However some of the bugs are simple to fix and seems like tgc are taking absolubtly no notice to us

Lets hope we get magnets, triggers and softbodies in the next update. Also the other 1 has a better collision feedback system. And, no need for the end-user to install drivers.

Dont get me wrong, I bought DP and find it great but it just seems a bit lacking compared to this other one. Am I llowed to post a link to it?

Well considering a few of the TGC staff themselves worked ON the actual physX engine... I dont see any problems coming round anytime soon.

OMG That physics demo blows away anything I have ever seen from DP. I am probably most definatly going to be switching, The stuff I seen in That demo is the reason I bought DP. God I got jipped. Looks like I am going to have to learn Blitz. Good Luck TGC.

Thank you.

What exactly did you see in that video that DBP and DP couldn't do aside from the dentable barrels? That's also a new feature we'll probably be getting in the next update.

Apart from magnets and deformable objects, there is nothing in that video that isn't in Dark PHYSICS. I'm afraid that if you can't get to grips with the basics, the 2 additional features aren't going to fix everything else for you - they'll only make it more confusing.

The depth to which the features are produced is also unclear. For example, I don't see any fading particles, only ones that go from visible to invisible instantly. The car moves, but can you change it's centre of gravity? The cloth tears, but they all seem to have the same tensile strength. Maybe it is all good stuff, but look before you leap.

And for goodness sake, please stop calling it DP!

'DP' has some rather unfortunate connotations!

Hi All,

What does 'DP' mean in Spain then?

Robin

P.S. TGC are even advertising Blitz.... Personally I would look to Leadwerks.

hmm... just tried the demo, I got FPS: 1 lol

I realise my system is obsolete, 450mhz, P3, 256 RAM, 64 graphics, but the DBPRO examples run alot faster than that, I know Blitz is a good engine and I like it alot, but with that demo I'm not convinced that the PhysX SDK has been implemented at it's best for the Blitz engine, Blitz is capable of way better.

just about to watch the video... will report my findings lol

yes, very impressive but I don't see anything that this can do and DBPRO can't, they probably run that demo on a system with a hefty graphics card anyway. with a decent system you probably wouldn't see much of a difference if at all

1fps? I get 450fps on the demo with a fx-57 and 7800gtx. Way more than I get with any Darkphysics demos.

Lets not also forget how obsolete the rest of the Blitz engine is. last I heard it was based on DX7... That's pretty lacking in features as compared to DBP.

Seriously, if you can't do most of that stuff in that video demo with Dark Physics and DBP, then you really need to sit down for a few days and learn how it all works.

I have both Blitz and DB. IMO both have advantages and disadvantages. DB is better for shaders and dx9 and Blitz is faster and better for older machines

@ General Reed: hopefully he tells you something interesting! Normally I also send Mike a mail, if I think that no news come along (if nothing new shows up in the newsletter or the forum about the update within 2 months from the last news, I ask him per mail about some new infos!) Good to know that I don't have to ask him again!
Post your results in the "Upgrade-Post", if possible!

well to be honest i like dark physics and have recalled no problems as of yet when incorporated into my work. Great bit of kit..the only bed point is i dont have the card for the water fluids...but oh well still enough into to say the price is so little.

The guy who made that wrapper just have cooler looking demos thats all, oh he has magnets and deformable objects which was cool, but you gotta say that video was cool

Deformable objects are merely cloth objects wich i believe we will have seemings mike has already shown us. That cloth ball he made sure looked deformed when he dropped a cube on it to me, and as far as magnets goes that can be achieved with the current command set just with a little bit more work.
