does anyone else have problems using 3dcrafter with windows 7, it freezes a lot, especially when Importing models, or even just primitives. i get a lot of crashes too.
Ive tried it on compatibility mode for windows xp sp3, but still no luck.

i've got win7 64bit home premium on a hp laptop with 1 gig graphics and 4 gig ram.
I know my lappy isnt the best machine in the world, but I would like basic performance.

It used to work well on my other pc with win 7. no problems.

anyone got a workaround?
similar problems?

this should help...

and as that thread is now locked you have to debate it here...

and this one is updated with typo corrections and any additions when found on my blog debateable here or on my blog

So have a read through and follow the DEP and USER ACCESS CONTROL side of it all, I doubt you need to follow the security software exceptions route but give that a go too...

Hope this helps

Thankyou for your suggestion but these measures did not work. the GUI for 3d crafter seems to work well, its the 3d window that is messing up and freezing making working with it impossible.

Whats your graphics chip like?

I have no issues with 3DCrafter...

Perhaps reset your graphics settings to defaults...

Can you be more specific on how it is unusable?

Hows things anyway

my graphics card is an on board setup. amd a4-3300m apu with radeon HD graphics 1.9 ghz.

its not the best in the world but will run skyrim on medium settings. and can handle most other 3d applications reasonably well.

with 3d crafter, all the gui buttons work well, but anything to do with the 3d window freezes up the view section. even importing models causes the freeze up. cannot change views, cannot manipulate 3d objects cannot do anything but click the gui buttons.

It is unusual, as my older computer ran it flawlessly, but i cant remember whether i used 3d crafter with xp or win 7 with it.

hmm, perhaps a screen shot?

are you using the special edition that is given with DGS?

yep it's the special edition. screen shots won't really help, the 3d window hangs with any interaction with the 3d window or the camera change buttons which makes using the software impossible.
