I bought a new Mobo and Processor, specifically the AMD Visera 4.2Ghz 8350 Black Edition and the AsRock 970 Extreme3 and the mobo had an 8ping CPU connector ATX12V1 I think. I have a 650Watt 80Bronze Certified Earthwatt and there are no 8 pin connectors. There are 2 4 pins, but one is the same shape, unlike the other is two different Shapes, a square and the other one . I have two 6 pins for my GTX 670 ftw, so I was wondering, does this PSU have an 8 pin connector on it, I am being confused by the specs on everything, and can not tell if it has an 8 pin or not. I do not want an adapter. Thanks!

Here is the one I am looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182073

That's a different one.

In any case both list "1 x 4+4-Pin ATX12V / EPS12V Connector" on the Details page, which I think is the one you're looking for... I dunno, technically it should be there, would be weird to have a PSU without that, right?

(I guess it'd look like this one -> http://www.quietpc.com/images/products/zmx00st-atx12v.jpg )

No, I have the Earthwatts, but I am looking to buy the other one. The CPU plug on the mobo is an 8pin and the Earthwatts does not have one. So now I have no PC for a few days until I order one D:

As I said, either one should have that connector. Atleast that's what I assume.

You sure it's not there? Can you atleast get a refund for the Earthwatts?

I am looking for a power supply with "1 x 8-Pin EPS 12V"

It also needs to have 2x 6-Pin for my G-Card.

Thanks if you find one!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX#EPS12V

Quote: "EPS12V is defined in SSI, and used primarily by SMP/multi-core systems such as Core 2, Core i7, Opteron and Xeon. It has a 24-pin main connector (same as ATX12V v2.x), an 8-pin secondary connector, and an optional 4-pin tertiary connector. Rather than include the extra cable, many power supply makers implement the 8-pin connector as two combinable 4-pin connectors to ensure backwards compatibility with ATX12V motherboards."

I still think the 4+4 should fit in the 8 Pin slot... or maybe you need to get an adapter?

...Maybe someone else knows more about this, never had that problem when assembling a computer... and now I'm primarily on a laptop anyways. I did help someone build a rig a few month ago but we didn't run into that problem and I don't really remember all the connectors.

I do have the 4+4, but one of the "4's" is only the dome shape, not the square. I guess I should get pictures to show what I am talking about. I also read somewhere that doing that can cause a shortage or electric fire D: I have to go to work soon, but I might be able to get some pics up.

This one? Look at the pics of the adapters. The two 4pin ones stick together to make an 8pin.

If you're absolutely sure you don't have one, you can get a 4 to 8 pin adapter and it's perfectly safe.

You need an adapter. I can't find which one because you're so vague on your description of your PSU. One is square the other is not doesn't help much. Take a picture.

You could just plug the 4-pin into the board, it'll probably work fine. Considering Newegg only has 1 PSU with an 8-pin, I'm sure your PSU will work fine. You sure the two 4-pins won't fit together?

That's correct. Here's how you plug it in. The rounded pegs should fit in the square holes.

Yea those look pretty normal to me. Just plug them in side by side.

Is there a guarantee that this will work? If I just plugged them in side by side, will there be a performance decrease, or should I just go buy an adapter?

What difference would an adapter make? Of course it'll work.

Well, I dont it just does not seem right to plug 2, 4+4 pins into an 8-pin connector and the holes dont match on one of the 4's. So I feel more comfortable doing an adapter, but I dont want to waste cash getting an adapter, because I would just drive to Frys. I just need to know if there would be a problem if I just did 4+4 into an 8?

Ok it worked, and then I put in the Disk that came with the mobo, it installed things, restarted a few times, and then when it finished, it did one last auto restart. Then I recieved no signal through HDMI, that is connected to my Graphics card, and my mobo has no video ports on it. The CD-ROM is blinking and will not open. Not sure what went wrong, but it does not seem good.

It also said somewhere in the middle, that Windows detected new hardware (New Mobo and CPU) and it will deactivate, it dissapeared and did not see when it will deactivate, I have the disks to recover windows vista, but the CD-ROM will not open.

And adapter is not recommended. Your psu is designed to plug into an 8 pin adapter just like that. The difference in shape and that there are two types of connectors is because there are various motherboard configurations it can be used for. As for your problem, sounds like something is malfunctioning. Take out all parts one at a time until it works again. Then you'll know what's wrong.

Well, everything was working fine, until I did a restart after I downloaded new Nvidia driver... HDMI wont work anymore, and not I get lag of certain games when I look around. Tired of the persistent problems. Any suggestions?

To be more specific, I dont "lag" because the FPS says its 55-70 constant, but more like the game freezes for a quick and brief moment, and gives the illusion that I am lagging or something. The screen sometimes flickers in game, but not out of it. I am playing Mount and Blade: Warband and it is very persistent in it. It has never done this before, and I usually get 120 FPS :\

Was it the latest driver? or was it a beta driver?

Did you turn on vsync? Do you have enough gpu ram to play at the settings your at? (running out of GPU ram behaves similar to how you described) The simplest way to check is to lower your texture quality. If it goes away, that is possibly it.

Ok, after doing some research, I found at the names of my problems. I am getting screen tearing and frame skipping about every 6 seconds. It is not lag, like my FPS drops from 60 to 15, etc. I am getting constant 60 FPS and VSync is on. The frames do not drop, instead it is just giving the illusion that it is lagging bad. I will take a video if needed on my PC.

My Specs:
AMD Visera 8350 4.2Ghz Black Edition (8-Core)
GTX 670 FTW OC Edition with 2Gb Ram
16Gb Ram at 1033Mhz(I think) but I am getting some at 1600Mhz soon.
AsRock 970 Extreme 3 Mobo
Antec 25 Green Earthwatts 650Watt PSU.

2gb should be plenty for most games. What kind of monitor? Have you tried disabling your antivirus?

It was the latest driver. I seem to have fix it by turning VSync on, and setting max fps to 59fps. The screen tearing is gone, and the frame skip is still there, but is reduced and hard to notice sometimes, but you can still see it most of the time, just its not very powerful. Hopefully it does not come back D:
