The Joan of Arc tutorials, contain nudity, but meh. Must have knowledge of own's program's tools, I haven't looked at it all, but it contains polymodelling tools, I've seen in C4D/Milkshape/3DS max and turbosmooth/hypernubs, I've seen in C4D/3DS Max, but I know there are more programs its compatible with, but thats what I've seen the techniques in.

here is the link

That's the best Poly-modeling tutorial I've seen, not quite sure what to call the infamous Joan-of-Arc tutorial.. but sure as hell isn't poly modeling (given this is my personal modelling style).

For the 3DC the whale tutorial was similar and I think I did pretty well on it. I've done a few tutorials now and I am going to try my had at a model of my own creation now. Actually I'm not a very good sketch artist, so my wife's doing the 2D. I've have to wait on her but until then I'm going to keep practicing from photos.

That joan de arc tutorial really helped me out back then with the uvw texturing and all of that, and i could like translate the high poly modelling head tutorial to a low poly head, and it came out quite good...

Just to show you what I've gotten out of this tutorial, here is my WIP of my Joan of arc, and I don't use 3DS Max, so it goes to show it can be used in other apps like Cinema 4D.

In my opinion, search for as many tutorials as possible and try to look at their differences on how they did it. Try all of these methods until you see a specific method that's perfectly fit for you. (I'm sure almost all of them have their own way of modelling)
I suggest looking at this forum too. [href]www.cgtalk.com[/href] Even experts and professionals are there.

cool good point, I've mainly worked around the poly modelling technique because I find it easy and accurate, but slow, and as box modelling a head, I never caught the fancy of, I box model somethings, so yeah thanks for the pointer

Indeed but you don't have to stick with a method.Use them when required.

as you can see this is the bit where I derive from the tutorial to make the model more original, I'm using the principles the tutorials uses to make the hair, but am moulding it to fit how I want it.

Calling all perverts!!!!!

I've started on the body, French men being french men (no offense to anyone like Benjamin) made the tutorial so she is naked, PERVERTS
and well I've gone from feet to belly so far, as you see she has no belly button, so I'll cut her one later

I think you have too many polys around where the groinal/thigh area meet. Seems to dip inwards, which isnt natural. Also the lower stomach area seems to be coming out a bit too far. That area tends to be quite flat, touching the pelvis. Legs look good and feet look good though.

@Seppuku Geijutsu: If you're rich, try to pre-order this http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/dartiste_character_modeling/
I'm too poor for this book, but sure is worth reading!
This is also a good tut too, although it's mainly concentrated on subd/meshsmooth. http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/mahf/mahf_01.asp

wouldn't cameltoe be camel toe, therefore being two words?

The tut looks really good, I would get it when I get paid, but, I'm not sure what program they use and whether or not it'll fit my way of working etc..
