UPDATED

Greetings and good day community. In this thread I will be showcasing some level working and maybe various things. I'm currently in developement of a game for the mini-game contest. So please comment on these screenshots and tell me what you think.

The game name is to be determined between Sepia or GRUNGE. The story is that you have received a phone call from a mysterious voice that something horribly wrong happened to your brother. You receive directions to a building in your childhood town that has gone to hell since the last day you walked among the streets. A massive government operaton gone wrong sent the town into nothing but ruin. Now a popular cultist activity area you suspect it to be the work of the infamous Seven Maryweather. Remembering your past when you were a horrible bully child you swallow the realization that this is all your fault. The voice tells to enter the building and do not come out the same way you came in or be horribly and mercilously slaughtered like a small lamb. You can't bring any weapons with you either as you enter the building or the same fate awaits you, but as you enter the building it's no man's land and no rules are on the table. This is your chance to redem your past by getting your brother back in a so suspenseful intanglement that will leave your pants soaked. You are all that stands between the gates of Hell and your brother. Are you brave enough to venture where you cannot see?

WORKING ON THE STORY SOME PARTS CLASSIFIED

I like the sound of it, and the screenshot is cool too, I'm guessing it's a horror game, well, it's awesome whatever it is.
Same with the Specimen 508 stuff, it is really cool and looks like a doom type game, can't wait to see and hear more about these games.
Keep it up ASTEK.

Here is some screenshots of some work I've done for my game. Tell me what you guys think and if you're entering in the contest as well... please don't steal any of my ideas that seem to be "unique". I will not do so with you.

Yeah, but most of those bars are from Undersides Tomb Pack... I gave you credit though as it is required to do so for the new compo.

Well? Does anyone think this is good? Does it suck?

Here's some general crit on your screenshots mate:
*WAY to many light source placements in your jail shot. You'd think that with all those light placements, the room would be brighter.
* Change the Hex code of the light to something brighter

Good luck in your future endevours

Understood, this is just test run for right now. And I want the lighting to be that dark. It's what fits my game. And I'm going to remove some lights. Personally I think it looks very dark and creepy. I'm also trying to give the player a since that someone didn't want anyone to be in that building with all the closed off areas. I'm going to add some scare tactics that none have thought of before.

I'm not going to give you a lot of grief over this since this is your thread but you may want to look into the edit post button.
Not only will it help keep your fellow forum members happy but it also makes your thread much easier and desirable to read.

American Infantry by chance? I do not switch games every five seconds. And I've worked with ideas on the others ones and now I've reached this one. Specimen 508 has already been made. A buggy version maybe but I made it. And all I did with Grunge was change the story.
Now do you giving me some critisism?

I'm posting a new picture. Ignore the flame not being over the candle... I can't ever get it right. But I would really like more feedback... I think I can hear crickets chirpping.

How did you know? suspicious Well the lights are too dark, a bit of a glitch with V1.05 and higher and the screenies have turned out too dark for me to see anything, and yes my computer is running with full contrast,

More to come guys. I'm just sorting out some stuff right now and re-gutting the plot. I have figured a plot out none have seen and I'm trying to perfect it. And this game isn't going to be just a "zombie shoot em up" I have bigger plans for this one.

You keep asking for more feedback, but here's the problem : you're not getting much more, because you're not listening to what people have already said! All your screenshots are WAY dark. THe last on is ok, but all the others are too gloomy.

Also, please don't be offende but, is English your first language? It's just, I think your plot could do with a read through, it's full of spelling mistakes and gramatical errors, and

please no "mysterious phone voice" , or missing siblings/loved ones.

I can see a couple in your post.lol
But I agree with butters they are way to dark and you have some pretty awesome screenshots but you are taking small rooms. To have more feedback you need more screenshots like in a bigger room an enemy perhaps. But seeing prison bars, candles etc. won't make me buy or play it I'll just think that its about candles and stuff.

Sorry for my gramatical errors. I'm mostly in a hurry when I type and do not bother to read it through sometimes.

And like I said, I'm giving this a MAJOR overhaul. I will be posting some more screenshots tonight. I think I'm on the brink of hitting the nail on the head for the plot layout I've wanted all along. The plot is almost the same but I've written some more that gives everything a deeper meaning. The screenies are just "test" work but most of the rooms will be put into the overall game.

Well I'm working out this one. It's not just that anymore.

It's also "dark" because that's the way I want it, dark. I'm working like I said and I am also watching some movies to give me some layout ideas.

I dont agree with the darkness issue simply because I know that screenshots appear darker,I always have to brighten up my shots before putting them up.The appearance is always sharper and brighter in actual game and screenshots can misrepresent this.
This does look like a nice use of lighting and atmosphere, providing the lights are coming from sources such as light fittings then it is all good.
It's great to see you join forces with COZ he is one of the better developers on the forums and he puts a lot of work and thought into his work, you will make a good team.

best rolfy.

A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yes! I just got some positive feedback from Rolfy. That inspires me a lot. Thanks man. And I sure hope we do. And sorry for the delay guys, I've just been struggling with some things right now. My Steam account will not let me access it and I don't know why. It wont load the friends so it just shuts down. I needed Steam so I could play a game of mine that I'm getting some ideas from. I have it for the Xbox but in my great fortune, my Xbox and 360 are broken.

BUT I'm still going to update soon. I'll just have to use my partial-photographic memory.

I'm not going to make myself a big liar by not updating so here we go. NOTICE: This is a very early layout of the town and is empty of entities at the moment.

I'm going to go back and add grass for the floor just as soon as I get some good grass. I'm also aware of the windows so don't say nothing about them colliding with the walls.

Here is another screenshot for you guys just so you have something to look at. I'm going to remap this out and figure lighting.

I need your opinion. Would this look good with all brown themed lights? I wanted to make that so but hey, you tell me.

Thanks,

You weren't really suppost to see the room in my first shots. It was an effect of darkness to leave you wondering.
