hey there !!! after you incorporate your own icon into your project, everything is fine (except for the classic 16-colors only problem, but that's not the point in this thread). So you have your .EXE with the desired icon BUT the small 16x16 icon on the program's taskbar (the classic blue gradient bar at the top of the window, which contains the close, minimize, maximize, hide buttons) is still the one with the DarkBasic pyramid ... what's the deal ?

i would bet it's because you haven't specifically included a separate 16x16 version of your icon within itself so it's using a default 16x16 which is, apparently, the pyramid.

try including atleast a 32x32 version and a 16x16 version in your icon when you create it. attached is a single icon with 3 different-sized versions. 32x32, 24x24 and 16x16. save it somewhere and right-click "preview" and then zoom in and out and you'll see that windows dynamically chooses an "appropriate" version of the icon.

i'm not sure what 24x24 is for but i'd bet it's a throwback to when our default screensizes were smaller than they are currently. i included it to help show how windows picks which version to display.

and, i've been using AWicons Lite for a long time now. it pretty much does anything i could every want, icon-wise (cursors, animated cursors, icon libraries, etc).

here's a link: http://www.awicons.com/

well I've decompiled the .EXE created with DBPro and it only has 32x32 and 16x16 so I guess that's what I should use too also, don't these forums have a Private Messaging system? cause I wanna give you something ... or you can give me your e-mail address if no PM is available

hmm I've made an icon with both 16x16 and 32x32 sizes but DarkBasic still won't use the 16x16 one ... and yes, the icon works fine cause I've tested it in Windows ... what do I need to do? is there some other hidden thingy ? also, check ur email

If I want to make sure the icon looks good at all sizes I just replace the 'Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic Professional\Compiler\plugins\Icon.ico' file with one of my own. Not ideal but it does work evry time.

well I've managed to do it in the end anyway, DB should really make this process simpler ... after all, being able to have a desired icon in all sizes is a must-have
