Hi all,

Ok, here's what I've put together the past day or two for the puzzle compo - its just a very basic (but playable) demo at this stage, so here goes..

Demo (1.6mb zip) = http://games.lamptonworm.com/DBP/Projects/3dBlocks/3dBlocks_Alpha1.zip.

Or go here, http://games.lamptonworm.com/DBP/Projects/3dBlocks.

Feedback welcome, please remember its a early shot at this though, and at the moment doesn't have a difficulty level, or give you a score based on how many moves you did it in etc.etc. but that's on the cards (see the readme).

Cheers in advance

Hi,

I thought the feb one should be ok as that's what I have (last DX update I downloaded from MS was called directx_9c_Feb05sdk_redist.exe around the time DBP 5.8 came out), the version I have is 4.09.0000.0904 (I got that number from running dxdiag) - however, this post may be of help... http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=53595&b=18 ?

EDIT: just found the link, appears I had the SDK version not the normal distribution (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=77960733-06e9-47ba-914a-844575031b81&DisplayLang=en). If anyone is clued up on this, do I need to get download 5.8 again so that programs compiled with that will run if users have just to normal DX runtime (and not the SDK bits)?

Hope it works soon,
Cheers.

Sounds to me like you are using either beta 5.8 or previous final 5.8 as that required that huge sdk version of DX9.0c. This also created nice small exe's.

You need the newer final 5.8 release that does not need that dx dll which is not included in 'normal' directx updates.

Thanks spooky Do you know if its safe to apply the final 5.8 over a beta 5.8 btw?

Once I've got it sorted I'll compile a new demo that doesn't need the larger dx, sorry 'bout that folks.

Cheers.

Hi,

Ok I've got the final 5.8 now and I can tell its the right one because the .exe's are big again ..anyway, this means it should work now for standard dx distribution.

@Lucas W, could you please try it again? Thanks.

Download Alpha2 (4.61mb compressed zip) here - http://games.lamptonworm.com/DBP/Projects/3dBlocks/3dBlocks_Alpha2.zip

Minor updates made to the demo and readme/site btw.
