So I was working in 3DWS, opened a winamp file in the background, and PC crashed. Reset the PC, tried to open same file and got a "Failed to load map" message. Can I still somehow save this, or is there nothing I can do?

Man I'm screwed. Been working on the crap for god knows how many hours the past week.

Help appriciated. Thanks.

Special thanks to Cash Curtis for luring me into opening his game video and making this all happen. You're hardcore bud.

Do you still have the file? It is possible that it may just be corrupted and part of it at least could be saved.

I believe he has the file but it's somehow become corrupted. Don't worry, I gave him some really good advice that sorted out the problem ...

Start again.

I'm also sorry for you Cat, it happened to me one time, choosed a texture over 2048x2048 and 3DWS crashed. (Without saving, took many hours) No textures over 2048 are in my 3DWS Folders, and i always save. Even for a texture change on a face.

You guys should be saving to another file every 30 mins to an hour or so. Megs problem was a corruption of the file, so he'd saved, but couldn't reopen the file. It's good practice to backup your files or save to another file often. Even if its on the same HD, it still avoids the issue of a single corrupt file.

Ugghh. Which reminds me, I should backup now. I've not backed up Claymore in a few days.

Wow, that's the worst thing ever. Seriously. Wow, sorry.

How big is the corrupted file? If it didn't magically shrink, maybe Josh K can dig some stuff out of it.

Well, now I feel bad, and I'm going to back up all of my files.

S'alright (I needed someone to joke-blame ), I should know better then to try to run that winamp beast while 3DWS is on anyway. Too much of a bother to try to bring the file back to life, as Ive started re-doing it anyway.

Thanks for the bother guys.

I run winamp and 3DWS all the time. It couldn't have corrupted the file, unless 3DWS was in the process of saving it when it crashed.

That sucks, and I was mad when I accidentally overwrote a map that I'd worked on for about an hour, well, maybe when you redo it, it'll look better.
