I have a map that is a basic maze that is one complete object. if I set the collision to polygons, my objects can move freely within the maze and not go through the walls. when they hit a wall, they just stop. I have a few questions:

1. what are the pros/cons for using a static object?
2. how do you make a static object, or could I use my maze and make it static?
3. are static object required for sliding collisions?

1. Pros
- They save processing time
Cons
- They cannot be edited, moved or deleted separately
- The collision boxes don't rotate.

2. look in the manual, I can't remember right now, something like "make object static" sorry. And yes
3. No, but you can do it using ... the manual, there are examples of sliding collision in the help files and on the internet.

Why the hell'd you ask me for crying out loud!?!

Another con:

They're not compatable. My video card displays strange random lines at the top of the screen when I use them. I think StevieVee's program just plain crashed when he used static objects.

Huh? They seem to work on my computer, and it's got some generic, junk-pile, out-of-date video card in it...hmm...

Not all cards do it. However, I'm certain that the GeForce4 mx440 does it, and would guess that similar cards might also.
