I've had this problem for a long time now, and I've looked for a fix for it to no avail... thought I'd finally ask here.

Whenever I double-click on a .bmp file to view it in Paint, and the file is in a directory with a space in its name, it won't open. For example:

If I try to open C:\Some Files\MG.bmp

I get the error 'C:\Some.bmp could not be found'

If I try to open 'C:\My Documents\Av.bmp'

I get the error 'C:\My.bmp could not be found'

The only fix MS offers for Paint is for Windows 95. I have 98SE. I don't recall this problem with other machines with 98SE, but I've installed twice and had the same problem both times.

Perhaps someone could send me their copy of the .exe file? I don't mind if you have a higher OS, I miss some features from ME paint anyways .

Thank you...

But it's the folders too! I can't open a single file in, for example, the Program Files folder, or even the My Documents folder. I'm *certain* ME paint didn't have this error...

sounds like a virii problem to me... had the same problem once... ya...it sux...reformat... backup to cds... any bmps and non exe/com or other self executable files should not carry a virus... many times i got a virus, a scanner never picked the thing up once the computer had already been infected... however... when transferring exes back to the computer after a clean install..the virus scanner went crazy^_^ hope this isn't the problem and im a blemming idiot tho...

Thanks, I downloaded. You can take it down now, very grateful .

Jerico, I would think that, but I've installed twice. If it's a rare problem, then it's my CD that's bad... well, let's hope this download helps!
