There's the blue prints for the older version of the car, I'll try find a pic of it.

Edit: I think it's this one.

I only took that out of the previous models because it made the poly limit so much higher, but I'm getting better at modeling now...

EDIT: Thanks for that link Chris, I couldn't find good top view pics of the gt.

If you need any pics of fancy super cars, lemme know. I'm taking my car for a wheel alignment tomorrow afternoon and the dealership is one of the largest lambo sellers in the country. Bentleys, lambo, ferrari, lotus, dodge dart......(yea i was confused too)

They had one but it was covered up, so I could only make out the car from about a foot above the floor and below. At least I think it was an enzo. It was the only covered car there as well, figures.

Here's a *very* early pic of the low-poly gt -- 1100 polys
Keep in mind that I haven't worked on the back end yet, so don't look at it
Mostly i got the front end and doors looking right, I marked about where the headlights are going to be also.

EDIT: The smoothing will probably look better after I export it, blender doesn't like low-poly models I think...

EDIT again: ahh, there are 666 views of this thread

coming soon: Ford GT vs. the Corvette.
No, really.
I'm serious this time.

When you model these cars, do you use a single primative and extrude and shape it or do you use multiple primatives? Which is the better way to do it? I am fairly new to modelling and am using 3D Canvas Pro. Right now I am doing simple furniture like armchairs. But I am always open for tips and pointers.

I made all 3 cars differently, lol.
For the charger, I used a scale model and no reference pics. I started with a cube for the divider in the middle of the grille and kept extruding it.

For the corvette, I used a scale model and a side reference pic that I took with my craptacular camera. I traced the outline of the car in side pic and extruded on the x-axis, then just kept adding details.

For the gt, I'm using several reference pics because I don't have a scale model, but using the same technique as the corvette, it seems to work . We'll see how it turns out. I'll be making a separate thread for it shortly, just need to get a little farther on it.

So, to answer your question , I usually start with a single primitive.
