I can't really tell you exactly. Some of those pics look real professional. You can't just pick up pencil and expect to draw something like that. It takes years of practice. All I can tell you to do is get out a piece of paper and draw the best you can. Practice and practice and practice......

Just change the DPI in the scanners options menu. Because it's B/W you can go up to like 800*800 and it won't take that long.
