@Ron

Sorry - I was being a bit cryptic.

To elaborate, today I handed in my notice at the law firm that employs me. I've been here 8 years (including my stint in our HK office) so it's a very significant and quite emotional decision. However, I've decided that the time has come in my life to do something entrepreneurial and to that end I'm off to become a partner of another firm. It's all very exciting if a bit daunting.

Scraggle is confirmed!

I finally got permission from Mrs Scraggle to attend this years con ... married life is taking some getting used to So I posted my booking form and sent my Google payment today. I am aiming to arrive at 17:00 on Friday.

Quoting Philip:
Quote: "I haven't detected any real interest nor does anyone seem to have any particular subject that they want to hear about. So I'm not proposing to speak (thus breaking the pattern of the past three Conferences)."

... actually, I would love an answer to a legal question. It may be a simple answer and not worthy of a whole talk but could you please answer this:
Whenever someone posts media that shows any form of logo (especially in the FPSC boards) there is a stream of forum lawyers all screaming "COPYRIGHT!" It is my opinion that no company would care about an indie dev using their logos because it is free advertising for them but from a legal standpoint is that an acceptable argument for using said logos? Thanks

I look forward to meeting forum members again and meeting new ones too I am beginning to feel like a kid at christmas - that makes me really geeky doesn't it?

@Batvink
Would you mind posting a list of all confirmed attendees? I would love to know who I can expect to see there

All confirmed attendees should have received an email with convention details. If you haven't received it then I haven't received your booking form / payment, or you have an overactive spam filter!

In either case, let me know if you haven't received the information. Nick, I already have your bounce email, can you let me have your new address.

The mailing list will let you know who is attending, and for the reasons stated in the mail.

I've just received the email, and most disappointing it is too - I mean, where are the directions to the nearest Chicago Rock? Where's the nearest Kentucky Fried Chicken?

When we went to Chichester, we knew exactly where they were!

How is Dave going to last until his spot on Sunday without them?

GG, I'm sure the beverages will continue into the night. It's in the middle of studentville, so even if the bar closes early, there's plenty of options.

It will most likely be easier for someone who has not visited Manchester before to get the train to Leeds. There are frequent services from the Airport to Manchester Piccadilly station, from where there are frequent services to Leeds. I shall post up a timetable for you if I get chance too later.

I'm flying into Leeds now. Catching a bus from London would turn my trip into an all day adventure and for the price of the trains I'd might as well fly directly.

Question for you Brits : can I use Euros in England, or will I need to purchase Pounds for all of my (bar) expenses? And, if Euros won't do, is it easy to buy more Pounds with dollars/Euros whenever I need, or do I need to do it at the airport?

You'll be needing coin of the realm, mate. We don't do Euros over here... We're far too backwards for that.

Leeds/Bradford airport is a much better option, you are only a few miles from the venue then! And don't worry about the runway disappearing down a hill, it's always been like that, never caused any problems.

I don't know if you can do it back-to-front as it were (Foreign -> GBP), but Travelex do one of the best rates, as long as you book your currency online first, and pick up at the airport. Also, make sure they are open at the times you are arriving/departing.

Thanks for the website. That is an excellent one, but unfortunately they're closed when I arrive. I'll check to see if the hotel has anything similar...

it's not a hotel, it's a conference centre, so it won't have. There won't be anything locally either, you might need to sort it out before you travel.

Probably just gay bars. I'll just buy Pounds

I've got it sorted. I didn't know that I can buy currency other than Euros from the military bank here. They have good rates. I was just hoping for more of a 'buy as I go' type thing, that way I wouldn't have to sell lots of unused Pounds back and lose on the exchange again. Oh well, I'll just have to use it all...
