I have yet to see what Mete does for Milkshape2...I mean see and not read.

While anim8or's cre8tor is making a professional version(which'll still be free btw) and he's got a pretty decent subdivision and edges toolset for high detailed models and no I'm not talking about those ugly fishes on the main site entrance .

If they add a 'parralel edge splitting' type tool,I may even switch to it

Anim8or is way better and full-featured...For now at least.

Interestingly we contacted Mete numerous times to see if he'd like us to bundle Milkshape on the DB sites (as we do with CShop or Texture Maker) and never received a single reply so we gave up on it. Shame really, tis a great package.

Cheers,

Rich

I'd hardly qualify it of 'package' but I know what you mean

i'm not sure who 3dworld is by... if it were future publishing then i'd say it'd be likely you'd see it on ComputerArts - if not then not sure

just emailed mete - will probably know by morning, if he isn't off for E3 (which i remember hearing him mumble about)

3D World is a British publication, and it is very good; chalk full of tutorials, and it usually includes a disk with free models, software, etc.

Yes, you can find it here in the US also.

*sobs* I walked all the way down to the local shops in the pouring rain getting completly soaked at 8am just to find my local newsagents dont seem to stock 3d world
I dont really like the idea of having to go all the way into either bristol or bath just for a mag either

incidently, going by the current exchange rates:
9.00 GBP = 14.5824 USD exactally

3D World - fantastic Mag - worth £6.00 without the freebies.

I got my full version of Cinema 4d V5 on the cover, and also Poser 3 in the past.

The gallery has some fantastic artists with fantastic stories - people who go out and spend £1,200 on Maya or similar, then dedicate their life to learning it for 2 years.

They had a good Blender feature last month, making a roller coaster scene.

If you are looking for inspiration, 3D World is the mag to read.

Thanks in advance.

I live in Glastonbury which is about 20 miles south of bristol...I can't find the magazine anywhere around where I live but I get a local newsagent to do a one off order for me whenever I want it.
maybe you should try asking your local newsagent...

guys try to remember the exchange rates are different each way - sides its a general practise to round off when you do it in your head, i mean the actual exhange is 1.434<->0.631 which quite frankly makes my head hurt trying to do it

I'm not sure what the exchange rates are, but expect to pay $13.95USD for 3D World here in the US. At least that is what my local bookstore charges....

I think they recently incorporated CGI magazine in with 3D World as well, and there are always one or two disks with freebie stuff on it.

Ok thanks. That's pretty cheap. So your saying that if I buy this magazine here in the US, A free Milkshape CD will come with it? That's a great deal!

3D World costs $13.95 plus tax at Barnes and Noble. I used to get it quite frequently but lately haven't taken much interest to the stuff in it.

As of US Pacific time 4:00pm, the exchange rate from £ to $ is 1 : 1.6241. That makes 9£ equal to $14.62. That's great news for me. Just made myself $2,360( 1,453.11£ ) richer due to the inflation and instability of the US dollar.

...Save disabled after 30 days unless registered

Glad I bought the magazine for the other stuff and not Milkshape. It's also got UZR 3D (full) to make 3D models from photos. I've done this before with D Sculptor - absolutely fantastic, but no good for low poly models. The textures are too complex to edit as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Rich & Sephnroth, I'm in Bristol too, Bedminster, and I'm going to head into town on Monday to the WHSmiths and get a copy of the mag. Sounds like a good one.

if anybody has issue 38, look on page 64. It says:

"Modelling in milkshape
Master this popular and inexpensive games modelling tool - full software included on the CD"

Don't know why they decided to change it...
oh well...

It's still the full software, just not registered. It's a gimmick to get people to buy it. They tell you just enough true statements to get you interested, but not all the facts. Welcome to truth in advertising.
