Well I was helping someone out today, and they were asking about sliding collision with objects made for landscapes. I remembered something at DarkBasicCodeBase, and when I found it, I found this site....

http://www.nuclearglory.com/developer/db/kdll.html

I thought it looked pretty cool, because I always see people asking this question. I thought I would kinda tell more people about this site, because that looks like a usefull dll

...does that include sliding collisions for models and other curved objects as well?

as in I could make an entire .x model, run it through this DLL and have lightning fast sliding collision between all models? That my 3ds max work would actually have a purpose in dark basic? This could be revolutionary...is it too good to be true?

Yep It basically 'molds' a matrix using your objects Theres a way to code it, but I figure it would take a while,,,all that calculating of objects height and uggggggh Well glad some of you find some use to this

I was thinking about using 2 matrices for this. One for just walking on, then put down your objects and drape a second over, but then I remembered that may not work, as defining height in 2 matrices doesnt work sometimes.

I'm sorry, this isn't matrix only is it? I was hoping for sliding collisions between models also, not just matricies, the demo only has a matrix in it, can this do .x models alone sliding collision?

Well it drapes a matrix over any .x object so yes, I think that would work, although you would have to write code to detect both matrices (the one your walking on, and the one over the objects)

no no I'm talking about .x object *only*, like if I wanted the sliding collision between 2 cars...or planes or people...with the ability to pass under each other

Way to go, RPG!
I haven't tried the DLL yet, (my mom'd kill me if I gave out my e-mail address...), but from the description it looks freakin' cool.
Keep it up!

Quoth, Nuclear Glory site has 2 thingies, one for specifically making a matrix from a model, but the link RPG posted is specifically for any *.x model. Its really cool, but takes a lil bit of fiddling to get working in pro. Its great tho, and v flexible
