Round or bevel the edges on the grip a bit more, looks a little too sharp for comforts sake. Looks pretty good otherwise, let's see a texture on it soon.

There are some nice tutorials on how to use the blender UV unwrapper.
It is really easy.

What version of blender are you using?

I am assuming you are in love with blender?

Okay I have a problem with LithUnwrap, and Ultimate Unwrap 3d (DEMO), I'll export the model from blender to both .3ds and .obj then when i try to import it into Lithunwrap or Ultmate Unwrap it says no geometry found. Help will be nice.

[EDIT] Here's a screenie of a new shotgun that I made, it's not finished and I was in a hurry when I rendered it so I didn't change the background.

Theres a video tut on how to do it here. It's called "LSCM UV mapping". It's a bit out of date though, its just says "Unwrap" when you hit "u" now, not "LSCM Unwrap".

Nice models by the way.

you should probably calm down withthe sub-surf...It's starting to look messy..What you should do is create a low poly and then use the smooth function..

Not a problem man, I am glad that someone likes the program

I'm gonna re-model both shotguns from scratch and see how they turn out.

Quote: "you should probably calm down withthe sub-surf...It's starting to look messy.."

Uhh, I didn't use the sub-surf for the model.

Quote: "What you should do is create a low poly and then use the smooth function.."

Okay, will do.

Quote: "Not a problem man, I am glad that someone likes the program "

Yeah, at first (like everything) I was staring at the screen dumbfounded and now I'm SLOWLY progressing, oh before I forget are you still making those blender tutorials?

did you ue the bevel option then? that is the worst option blender has for some crazy reason it bevels the whole scene and not selected objects, I haven't tried seperating the meshes in to two objects but Who knows it may work...

No, first I made one part of the barrel then duplicated it, made some faces for the pump slide, extrude and move stuff around to fit the shape of the shotgun butt and thats its. I don't even know how to use the buttons yet. I just used the keyboard and mouse not even paying attention to the buttons.

The Blender .3ds exporter is a little funny, when the window saying "Export textures? (WARNING:BREAKS SOME IMPORTERS)" you have to make sure you say "NO" for it to work in lithunwrap.

The shotgun is neat so far.

When did you start with blender?

About 3 weeks ago. I've had it for longer but I couldn't get around to using it because of testing for school.

Thanks, now that i think about it blender is very simple. One question though how do you check how many polys your model has?

heres the progress of my new model.

Reality Forgotten or anyone who is proficent in Blender, How do you find the poly count for your models?

Mastercheif- Dude the handle geometry looks a bit off, there are also several spots on your shotgun model that can be optimized. You are coming along very nicely. I would work the shotgun a bit more before moving on.

hessiess- "think youve masterd lo poly gun modaling, try uv mapping it."? uhm....how about we use the correct phrase for the situation? (no offense Mastercheif) I think the phrase should be:

"You are progressing well, Now you should try cleaning up the mesh a bit more and then try your hand at Uvmapping"

Regards,
Dave

Now that I think about it yeah there are many places that can be fixed.

None taken

I have just downloaded the video tutorial about the LSCM UV mapping in Blender, but one thing though I only have photoshop elements and I'm not very good at it

Well this is one big bump and It has a screenie too I took a break from modeling weapons and I decided to model simple things, for example, this screenshot. I modeled a dumpster and a berrel which I hope to get into DBpro or FPSC

Tell me what you think about the models, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

hey, not bad, but fingers are a bit too long and sausage like, and the palm isn't really emphasized enough.

do you think you could post shots from the top down, from underneath and from the side, in normal view (no special render) but so we can see the wires. so i can do a detailed draw over?

Thanks for the comment, I checked the mesh and it was all messed up so I'm gonna re-model it, other than that I started learning about how to use the Bones in blender, kind of annoying but I'm willing to learn it. I started a new project, sorry for jumping from model to model. I started the Thompson submachine gun because it seems easy to make and so far it has been easy to make, I'm gonna put up a screenie later today because I'm going on vacation tomarrow and I'm gonna be gone all week.
