Cutscenes are easiest to do when you run them as part of the game engine, not a video file. Render a scene, make your objects, tell them to do certain things at certain times.

If you want to make a video, some of the 3d modeling programs out there will convert an animation to a video (usually AVI).

I don't have much experience in animating things in DB, but isn't it easier when you can use stuff like keyframes in for example 3dsmax?

yeah, the way i would do the cutscenes is to make the animations in a 3D modelling program, max for example, then loop then in the game.

everyday of life is a new chapter that has already been fortold but is up to the soul to capture.

So, to take this one step further...

does anyone have any ideas on creating a file from a DarkBasic animation that could be read by a 3D application as an animation path for example.

I'm using DB for Machinima, but it would be nice to do a higher quality render of the result.

Thanks in advance.

yes

But then wouldn't ou be doing a cut-scene for a game that you couldn't model and animate for either?

Surely your cut-scene should contain the scenery and characters from your game?

Thanks in advance.

maybe you can save your characters animations as a .x file and then open it in 3dsmax? (I'm nearly certain that you can save .x files, but I'm not certain at all if its possible to open it in 3ds max)
