Hello 4life killah,
First, you might want to consider changing your UserId name. While it may seem cool, and just for fun, it doesn't give a good impression. I know people use names like that all the time in the gaming community, and First Person Shooters, but I think you would fair better with a less abrassive name. I won't harp on it, so you can take or leave that advice.

I'm not aware of any complete 2D fighter engine in DBpro. I know there are some codebase entries, and some snippets for different parts, but I'm not aware of a fully released app/source that is felxible to use as a game creation tool, or engine with scripting. I could be wrong. Now, while you can develop this type of engine in DBpro (with some assistance and code snippets) it will be a bit more work than say, coding it in PlayBasic. If that is something that you can consider, you could get some great answers from Kevin Picone. PlayBasic is sold here through TGC. Kevin Picone is regularly around Demoing work, and does a good job supporting customers and demonstrating the effectiveness ,pure speed, and smoothness of PlayBasic's 2D blitting/collison routines.

Here's a Link to the Product (I think there is a free trial)
Here's the Official link to PlayBasics forum/board.
A link to Kevin Picone's Post in Programming Talk Board here at TGC

Finally, I am not sure what you mean by fixing sprites of characters. Could you elaborate on what the issue is exactly?

sincerely,
~zenassem

Can you change your username zenassem? (interested cuz i want to!)

Anyway in reply i think he means graphics packages. Mspaint is a good option for pixel art because of the freeness. Other good ones are ProMotion and Adobe Photoshop but they will cost you. I found a small program called SpriteBuilder it's very good for creating sprtes from a set of frames or an animated gif basically it just lines them all up into a single image.

Just my opinion:

I am currently writing a fighting game sorry the engine will not be open source but I must warn you they are not easy games to create. Especially if this is your first project. The complexities involved in movment, animation, cordination with colissions and input systems are extensive. It may be wise to try a few smaller games just as learning exercises before you take on a fighter.

@Hummanoid Typhoon,

Yes you can change your username by clicking on the profile button at the top of the board. Then click user Profile. In there click the Forum tab, and modify the Forum Name field.

Note!!! - Just be sure to scroll down and click the Update Profile button after you make your edit.

The best place to get the PlayBasic demo is of course from the developers home page. It's newer and has 120 day trail period. It's not really that representative of PB1.70/PBFX however, but enough to learn the basic of programming. Which you'll need regardless of the what you use.

No I never tried, as I never had the need. But I assumed you could considering, the field is editable. Since it's not changeable you'd think they should change the field from an input box to a label.

I wanted to change my name once from Shadow heart to Shadowheart becase I don't what i was thinking with te space, and it deoens't work but i'm fine with tthe name. For graphics programs, I would suggest publisher pro (art explosion), you'll probably stick with it for life, you'll also need and want adobe photo shop.

I think you could change your name if you wanted to go to the trouble of changing your email address. I believe the profiles are kept by email address. I used to have a different user name, but when I changed my email address, I had to change my forum name.

If you want a good cheap image editor, I'd recommend Paint Shop Pro. It's a fraction of the cost of Adobe Photoshop and has a great deal of similar features and abilities. It doesn't have everything, but it's got more than enough for most people. Otherwise, if you want free, go for "The Gimp".

Free music, textures, models, and tutorials.

One thingi love about paint shop pro isthat if u zoom enough, you can actually cut out the background of any image without the need of feathering or having problems looking at it.)
