OK I'm just getting to grips with Anim8or - I know milkshape better but I'm a real cheapskate & Anim8or is free.

Anyway, i just done the red chicken thingy tutorial, exported it as 3DS, converted to x with conv3ds.exe and it loads and displays fine - but the animation don't work.

Any help much appreciated.

Animations are a real drag to get out of anim8or and although a large proportion of independent game developers use it,the author doesn't seem to care about implementing the export capabilities in his software, that is from what I've seen and maybe a petition would do,still,he is in the process of making a 'pro' version of anim8or(or maybe did he changed to anim8or2 ,not sure) and one thing I know for sure is that you're not a cheapskate to use it for modeling,it is superior in many ways to Milkshape3D and uses the 'real' terminology of 3D processes...

Thanx for reply

So animations only work within Anim8or and can't be exported Perhaps Model8or would be a more apt name.

If I want animated models looks like I gotta pay for milkshape?

No,use 3dCanvas it will 1:Get the animations out without problems(never had any) 2:Give you WAY more features for your money(ie:SubD surfaces, easy use of BVH animation files...)

Of course, just wait and check the link back later.

The author is attentive to the user's demands also, like steven (anim8or's cre8or).

Hurray! I'm not alone with this problem! I'm good with programming, I just can't make any stinkin' animated .x or .3ds files with anim8or. DOES ANYBODY KNOW A FREE THING THAT CAN EXPORT ANIMATED .X or .3DS FILES!!! If you do, you'll be my hero (along with whoever made the program!)

Truespace 3.2 is free and I think it can export animated .x and .3ds files.

I have a post somewhere in this forum called
"Truespace 3.2 license free?"
So you may wanna check that out, if anything interesting, or important info. comes up there.
