I believe it.
Creating 3D First Person Shooters was only a dream for me until I found FPSC.
Maybe you guys with experience laugh at it but for anyone lacking experience, FPSC is a great way to get started in game design.

I have removed several off-topic posts.

This isnt fair. What about us without vista or x10?? Cant you at least make an dx9 version for us xp (or lower) users? Or atleast vastly upgrade the older version. (with whatever our crappy pcs can handle lol)

Please?

If you read up on the subject you would know TGC is in the process of making an upgrade for this version of FPSC.
Despite what anyone tells you Vista and Direct x 10 are the future...or actually now the present but just getting going. If we all want to continue computing on the same level we'll all be getting Vista eventually (except for the odd one or two out there still trying to run Windows 98 on their pc...).

bum fat cheese, this is perfectly fair and completely out of TGC's hands. They are making some changes to X9, but don't expect 50 enemies in a room, characters with 10k polys, or any other thing that is DirectX 10 only.

TGC only makes the software for different hardware, it's not like they are only making FPSC X10 for Vista users because they think Vista is cool.

That's a wrong assumption..... if other engines can achieve this with DX9, so could TGC. The problem is FPSC 1 is written in DBPro, while X10 isn't. DBPro is holding FPSC V1.x back, if FPSC would have been written in C++ isntead it would be a whole different application. It's not DX9's fault that FPSC can handle stuff so pourly, that's all due to the choice TGC made to write FPSC in DBPro. I'm glad that this time around they haven't made that mistake, so there's much more hope for X10 then there ever was or will be for V1.x.

I understand you and agree with you, but still other games do not have 50 characters with 6000-10,000 polys and all of the features that FPSC X10 offers.

Benjamin, FPSC X10 is being written in DBPRO X10, so it may seem X10 is a major improvement(which I guess it is) but it is not so much, X10 just allows shaders to be applied without losing to much FPS, and instancing allows many of the same characters and entities to be put in a level without damaging the FPS to much( not sure about segments), which makes it appear like it can handle crazy amounts of things, but really if you used different enemies and entities it would not be able to handle to much more, it would only appear so because most X10 cards are so powerful.

So while X10 will solve a few problems, its not going usher in a new era of games.

Why did you get 64 bit, and why Vista Home Basic?

The 64 Bit was not any extra and I do not need any extra features with Vista. Plus I was way over budget as it was... Should not have an issue running X10 right?

Can't wait to try this processor...

Will FPSCX10 available for download after purchase like FPSC V1?

I only ask my question because one of my friend would like to buy it, and want to know.
Due to the big system requirements, I think I have to wait at least 2 years until hardware prices go down. I'm not rich.

I don't think so, the program will be sent via mail to you when you order it, there's yet no word about downloadable version.

The owners of the original FPSC do get a small discount (-15%), but they do have to pay it as well.

How will they know who has got FPSC?

I bought FPSC on disk last year before I had a TGC account set up. I can take photos of the box, and provide my serial number if needed, but the only things that are in my download History are model packs that I have bought since I joined the forum, but I joined the forum six months after I bought FPS Creator.

Looks like it's taking off quite nicely.

Just curious, but is the 30% discount for a set period of time? I'm not upgrading for at least another year, and I know there will still be a few FPSC X9 users around then...so will the discount still be available to those of us without the money to upgrade immediately?

X10 looks amazing, but I'm not done with FPSC X9 yet. I hope Lee dedicates some time for improvements in the foundations of this project.

Good luck TGC,
Paul

Small question, there used to be a beta version of this (Showing off an example level or something). At the time I didn't have Vista but now I do, but I can't find it. Any idea of what it was called? (For searching reference) Or know where I can find a link?

Cheers,
