Xplosys - You never found the f on/off switch script I made for his old version? I coulda sworn you replied to the post - though for whatever reason that thread seemed to die (it was the one with the flashlight crosshair) right after I posted it

Ah well, my method was a little tiny bit more complicated cause I didn't just check for 0, I basically checked for NOT 33 (or whatever f was). Mine might have been better if the condition was using DBP's KEYSTATE() command, but it seems to be using SCANCODE() which unfortunately doesn't work if you have several keys pressed....

Vote today and play the games!

Yeah, and the flashlight should be real and it should wash your car and it should go round the world and collect money for you. Have some cake. Eat it too.

I would expect no less from a game engine that makes games for you and comes with a forum full of laborers who make free content for you in exe's so you don't have to know how to install it.

Best.

ok dark fact.......but sereiosly lots of fps games have flashlights u can actually see (like doom 3) with the exception of several which already have amazing stuff (halo) so i still think it should have an actually flashlight or its not a flashlight its just a light

A lot of newer games like fear. hl2 dont have hands and thats was this is based on and there will be no flashlight or hands with this release unless someone makes an add on.

Your more than welcome to add a flashlight and put it on the forum.

Thanks for he comments everyone

Me too.
I usually don't like weapons with hands as you have to deal with gloves / no gloves, change huds...

If you have to have the flashlight in your hand so bad download this and smitho's flashlight and put them together...
I actually went into the sci-fi and wwII folders and made the torch item a pickup so when you picked it up instead of just getting "YOU PICKED UP AN ITEM" (if you are using the default huds) when you pick up the flashlight your hand comes out with a flashlight in it.I am sure there would be a way to combine this and smitho's flashlight and make something nifty and that an enterprising forum member will no doubt find a solution and post it here.
s4real decided to release this to the forums. He didn't release the last version to the forums so we ought to be grateful to him for this.
If you absolutely have to have hands on your weapons you might be disappointed. Some people still make weapons with no hands.
s4real,

I've added a flashlight to the hud. Not exactly the flashlight model I wanted, but the only one I had. If you use this hud, be sure to change the hud name in the script to flash2.dds and put this hud in the same place as flash.dds.

Image attached.... download in next.

Next thing you should do is make a battery for it, not like a pick up battery but like when you turn your flashlight on it will die after a while and recharge. That would be cool.

@darimc,

Here you go, Dude. I subdued the colors more to help it blend with weapons carried, and cleaned up the edges.

I intentionally got rid of some of the detail, as the player shouldn't really be able to see the backside of the flashlight, if the beam's coming out of it.

@All,

Want a fast and easy way to set this flashlight up?

Here's a quick method, utilizing the _marker folder itself. It speeds up everything considerably.

Thanks,

Seth Black

interesting.

i was wondering why nobody altered this into Night vision, which (due to how it works) functions better than a flashlight (because even in light, the flashlight HUD darkens the outside of the light circle quite randomly.

so here you go, little edit from me if anybody wants night vision using this method:

youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heZKrLMqln4[/href]

^^ ignore the fraps 8 fps number, i had it on accidentally when taking the screenshots from movie maker.

tada

nice work s4real.

It wont work, I've read the readme, I dont know how many times, and I've followed the instructions:

Amb level set to 0 in build game.

PLace Flash.dds into Lanugaugebank/english/gamecore/text.
Place Audio folder flashswitch into audiobank

Place fpi script into scriptbank.

The easy way to install is to drag all the folders and copy them into your files folder in fpscreator clicking yes to replace.

1lace a light where you want the flashlight to work set the static to no, range 0 and the main AI to flashlight.

You only need one light in an area once activated the torch will work in the whole area.

use the f on and f off

But it just wont work. I walked into the room with the light, pressed "F", and nothing happend. So I pressed it again! I soon relised that I didn't put the sound files in. Then I put it in, and the sound just played repededly without pressing "F", and it still wont work. Please help me (I saw the screenshots, it looks AWESOME!!!)!

Make sure everything in the right place and named proper, like if you using any custom huds made by X they might be renamed flash2.dll.

Also make sure you downloading the latest version.

As seth said retrace your steps as one thing set up wrong and it wont work.

...DL and reinstall it. That should take care of positioning problems.

As far as location is concerned, it should be in the
following location:

Languagebank\English\Gamecore\Text\flash.dds (or flash2.png)
